It was 14 years ago this August that
I rst stepped foot on a bodybuilding
stage. After training for football and track
and eld from junior high school through
college (ages 12-22) in an effort to
maximize my speed, power and agility,
I switched gears to maximize muscular
hypertrophy, minimize body fat and
create a well-conditioned/symmetrical
physique to become a competitive
bodybuilder. Since that time, I have
dedicated countless hours in the gym,
behind scientic books and journals and
performed countless trial and error self-
experiments in order to build my physique
as a bodybuilder. Over time, I have
mastered the art and science of training,
nutrition and sports supplementation and
have had the opportunity to transform my
body as well as those of thousands of
others who have dedicated themselves to
do the same.
One thing I have learned through
the years of schooling to obtain a
terminal doctorate in athletic training
and through 18 years of hands-on work
experience with myself and htness
clients is that learning never stops.
I found that the more you learn, the
more you realize you need to continue
to learn. Similar to the current world
champion in any sport, being the
best just isnt enough. The quest to
improve is what helps champions
remain champions. This is why the
held of exercise science is such an
exciting held for me; it is extremely
dynamic and constantly evolving.

question of their true efhcacy is always
in effect. While several studies have
been performed on the effectiveness

peer-reviewed Journal of Nutrition and

became excited to try it as another
self-run experiment on my training,
nutrition and sports supplementation
program. Coincidentally, Max Muscle
was also sponsoring the MaxxTOR
8-week transformation challenge. I
was intrigued to not only try the new
product, but also to enter the contest to
win the transformation challenge.
Just less than 8 week after starting
the MaxxTOR product and continuing
my contest preparation diet/training, I

found I had dropped from 195 pounds
with 12 percent body fat on April 7,
2014 to 184 pounds with 4.5 percent
body fat on May 29, 2014. This was
measured hydrostatically at the Human
Performance Laboratory at Cal State
University, San Bernardino.
This equated to an increase of lean
body mass (muscle) of 5.1 pounds and
a decrease in body fat of 15.1 pounds.
The ability to gain muscle mass while
simultaneously losing body fat is a near
impossibility for a seasoned bodybuilder
with more than 14 years of training
and dieting under his belt. Since I
changed nothing else in my contest
preparation program over the course
of the challenge, the only new variable
to my amazing results was the use of
MaxxTOR.
In addition to seeing the numbers
change on the scale/body fat as
well as watching my physique make
improvements in the mirror, I also
noticed an increase in my strength.
Typically, strength drastically decreases
when calories are dropped and cardio
is implemented over time. However, I
noticed MaxxTOR helped me keep my
strength throughout the transformation
period. I am eager to try MaxxTOR in
the off-season when my calories are
increased to maximize hypertrophy and
strength.
It is well known that PA is a lipid
(fat) messenger that plays a crucial role
in the stimulation of the mammalian
target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling.
The exact mechanism of this process
is still being investigated. However, the
activation of mTOR has been shown
in various studies to be involved in
regulating skeletal muscle hber size
and preventing skeletal muscle atrophy
(Bodine, et al. Nature Cell Biology 3,
1014-1019, 2001). Simply stated, the
more that mTOR is activated, the more
muscle you can gain.
The goals of the study published
in the Journal of Nutrition and
Metabolism were to compare the
effects of different PA precursors
and phospholipids (derived from egg
and soy sources) on their ability to
increase mTOR signaling and PAs
ability to enhance the effects of
resistance training induced changes
in body composition and strength.
The outcomes of the study were that
the effects of soy derived PA were
signihcantly greater than the effects
of egg derived PA in their ability to
improve mTOR signaling. It was also
concluded that utilizing 750 mg a day
of PA (as compared to a placebo)
signihcantly enhanced lean body
mass, muscle cross sectional area
and strength when undergoing the
same resistance training and dietary
protocols.
So, it is not surprising that Max
Muscles MaxxTOR contains 750 mg of
PA derived strictly from soy. Dr. Harvey
is always certain never to cut corners
and to provide accurate dosages of
active ingredients as well as the most
potent form of the each ingredient
to the Max Muscle line of products
