Discount Rates

CARE (California Alternative Rates for Energy) Discount
The CARE program provides a monthly discount on energy bills for income-qualified households and housing
facilities. Qualifications are based on the number of persons living in your home and your total annual
household income.
CARE is available to MCE customers as well as PG&E customers and provides the same discount regardless
of enrollment with MCE or PG&E. Customers enrolled in MCE will continue to receive their full CARE
discount and there is no need to reapply with MCE. New CARE enrollments or renewals must still be done
through PG&E's customer service center or website.
If you think you may be eligible to receive a CARE discount and would like to sign up, please call PG&E at 1-
866-743-2273 or visit PG&E's website: http://www.pge.com/.

Medical Baseline Allowance
Medical Baseline Allowances are generally available to customers who personally are, or who live with
someone who is dependent on life-support equipment, or have certain other serious medical conditions
which create an added need for electricity. This program allows customers to receive discounted rates for
electricity by increasing their allocation of "baseline usage", electricity which is available at lower rates.
Customers enrolled in MCE will continue to receive their Medical Baseline Allowance from PG&E, and there
is no need to reapply for this program with MCE. Medical Baseline customers are also exempt from PG&Es
Power Charge Indifference Adjustment charges, which can provide an additional savings on energy bills.
If you think you may be eligible to receive a Medical Baseline Allowance and would like to sign up, please
call PG&E at 1-866-743-2273 or visit PG&E's website: http://www.pge.com/.

Other Rate Information

Changes to Tiered Electric Generation Rates
As of July 1
st
2012, both MCE and PG&E utilize non-tiered generation rates. Previously, residential
customers were charged according to tiered generation rates so that charges increased as usage increased.
PG&E has replaced this system with the Conservation Incentive Adjustment (CIA) line-item on customer bills,
which provides a credit to low-usage customers and charges to high-usage customers. The CIA is applied
equally to both MCE and PG&E customers.
For more information on the Conservation Incentive Adjustment change, please contact PG&Es customer
service center at 1-866-743-0335.

PG&E Electric Rates
MCE does not provide a listing of PG&Es generation or non-generation rates, as those rates are subject to
change over the course of the year. The most up-to-date information on these rates can be located within
PG&Es tariff sheets, available on their website here: http://www.pge.com/tariffs/. For comparison purposes,
generation rates are listed under the Unbundling of Total Rates, which is found after the listing of Total
Rates. All other charges which comprise PG&Es bundled charges (such as Distribution, Transmission,
Conservation Incentive Adjustment, and other charges) are assessed equally to MCE customers.
