implementation of the program among the screened participants was done in
October 2007 to March 2008.
• Financial Education Program was integrated to child development sessions of the
BCYA program.

II- Accomplishment and Report

• The program has a two major objectives, which have been achieved
already: 1) a financial education curriculum for the OSY; 2) 9 children
already has personal account in Micro-Finance that served as their saving.
• FCED has joined Childhope to implement the Financial Education
curriculum in a community based approach. The curriculum includes
modules on job motivation, visioning, personal accounting, budgeting, as
well as saving.
• There are 15 out of school children and/or youth who were screened using
the screening tool developed by the FCED project. These children are
usually sponsored children supported by Christian Children’s Fund and
some other participants are siblings.
• As per record in the Micro-Finance, there are 9 children who have already
begun their savings. Savings has taken from their educational
reimbursement and some were taken from their designated fund certificate
(DFC) given by their sponsors.
• Although, they have the means to save money coming from their sponsors
but they also save from their personal money.
• FCED also start implementing the FEP curriculum to the ALS learners of
the project. There were 10 out of school youth from barangay 821 and 9
from barangay 823.
III- Problems Encountered and actions Taken

• Some of the screened participants have failed to attend certain sessions

because of the conflict of activities. There are four (4) participants who
enrolled in vocational course that has conflict with the scheduled of the
session. To address this problems, the social worker come up with the new
schedule were the participants will be conducive to attend the session.
• However, some of the participants have given more attention to their part
time work and other participants have attitudes of laziness. Review of the
sessions was always done in order for the absentees to make up the
sessions that they missed.
• The participants will not come on the set schedule if they will not be
reminded or given letter by the social worker. Social worker makes sure to
give them letter of invitation every session.
• Due to many activities during summer most of the time prepared for the
preparation of the children and youth activities such as sportsfest and
mini-olympics and level-up camp.

IV- Assessment and Recommendation

• The participants are very expressive during the sessions. They are really
thankful because the FEP program and its content are really fruitful for
them because it adds knowledge to them especially in savings. The
participants are very open about themselves in dealing with the other
participants especially during the course of visioning sessions.
• Social worker has come up with the idea of giving more fruitful sessions
according to the needs of the participants.
• However, the social worker has seen that some of the screened participants
are not committed to the program showed by irregularity in attending the
sessions.
• With this, the project recommends to open the youth leaders to become the
2nd liner participants for the FEP curriculum.
• Integrate the program to the entire ALS learner. Meeting with the
Instructional Manager to discuss about the integration of Financial
Education to all ALS zlearner5
