MISSION
Mosholu Montefore Community Centers (MMCC) mission is to build on individuals
strengths to enhance the lives of all our residents, including those who are vulnerable;
immigrants, victims of discrimination and those with special needs. MMCC is committed
to respecting and protecting the dignity of our residents of all ages, religions, races,
ethnicities, sexual orientations, economic conditions, and to provide programs to help them
to overcome economics, build inclusive communities, and live healthy and fulflling lives.

Welcome back! Te MMCC Board and Staf are very excited about our new and exciting programs. We continue to expand our quality
program oferings. Our afordable programs are essential to help with meeting daily needs of our community. Tey include childcare,
food stamps, senior respite care, teen programming, college guidance, tutoring, job workforce programs, camps, baseball, etc.
Registration operates on a rolling basis once this brochure arrives in your mailbox. You may register in person Monday-Friday
8am-6:30pm or on Saturday, September 27 9am-4pm. Classes fll up quickly; dont delay! Tell your friends, family and neighbors about
MMCCs oferings.

Where we serve our community
Day Care Program
Our Day Care program serves children between the ages of
12 months and 4 1/2 years. Te programs ofer fully equipped
classrooms and outdoor play areas.
Our teachers are warm and caring. Children are taught through
creative play and literature, and are encouraged to develop their
imagination and social skills. A healthy breakfast, lunch and
snack are provided. Parents provide diapers and wipes.
Tis is a 12 month program.
Hours: 8am6pm, MondayFriday
Extended hours are available from 7:30am8am
and 6pm6:30pm at $6 per 1/2 hour.

Head Start
Head Start is a federally funded 6 hour program for 3 and 4
year olds during the school year. Tis gives lowincome families
the opportunity for early education growth, health services,
and parent involvement. In addition, the children are prepared
academically and socially for kindergarten. A healthy breakfast,
lunch and snack are provided.

Universal PreKindergarten
Universal Pre-Kindergarten is a free 6 hour program open to all
for 4 year olds. Our program provides high quality developmen-
tally appropriate instruction for all children with an important
foundation that promotes the acquisition of skills in the four
learning domainssocial-emotional, physical, creative expres-
sion/aesthetic and cognitive development that includes language
and literacy and mathematical and scientifc thinking. A healthy
breakfast, lunch and snack are provided.
Half day UPK 8am-10:30am.

Program
An enriched curriculum of classes and clubs at MMCC
including Ice Skating, Bowling, Computer, Soccer, Art Work-
shop, Nature Crafts, Drama, Music, Basketball, activity groups,
and Homework Help. All of these classes and clubs are included
in the tuition fee. Children receive a nutritious snack each day.
All day trips and activities are available on most school holidays for
an additional fee. Upcoming full day trips: Oct. 13 (Columbus Day),
Nov. 4 (Election Day), Nov. 11(Veterans Day), Dec. 29, 30 and 31
(Holiday Break), Feb. 16-20 (Winter Recess).
Special needs services may be available for your child based
on certain criteria. A current IEP and intake interview must be
scheduled prior to the student starting the program.

BN Fit is a comprehensive program that provides medical,
psychosocial, nutrition, and physical activitysupport in learning
and implementing healthy lifestyles.
Te afterschool program available to overweight youth between
the ages 12 to 18. Te BN Fit Program is held from 4:30pm-
6:30pm at PS 8, 3010 Briggs Avenue, on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Fridays. Te program allows teens to meet new
friends, play a variety of games and sports, try new foods, go on
trips and much more.
Te 12 month BN Fit Program includes: monthly medical
assessments at the CHAM, weekly nutrition/behavioral groups
and physical activity groups. Also ofered are optional cooking
classes, gardening, and youth council. Once a month parent group
and family night are ofered.

College Bound Program | College Access Counseling
Parents, high school students, and adults get comprehensive help
to select colleges, complete applications and apply for fnancial aid.
College students wanting to transfer are welcome. Adults looking to
return to school can also receive services. We provide: Individual
counseling/joint studentparent counseling, group information
programs and college trips.

Low cost SAT preparation classes are designed for high school
juniors and seniors who would like to prepare for the SATs.

leading to New York State Food Handlers Certifcation. Job

Family Choice Program
Te Family Choice Program educates parents and students on
middle school and high school choices in New York City. Te
Family Choice/Early Awareness Program provides information
about smaller middle and theme-based high schools and charter
schools in the fve boroughs. Tis program also supports families
as they navigate special education in New York City.

Specialized High School Test Prep
Tere will be a specialized high school test prep class that will take
place at the Mosholu Montefore Community Center. Orientation
will be on Wednesday, September 10 at 4pm.

Young Adult Internship Program, 1724 years
YAIP ofers 14 weeks of paid trainings and internships.
Eligibility: Participants must not be currently enrolled
in school or hold a college degree. You must be unemployed and pass
a reading test. Required documents: social security card, birth
certifcate, government issued ID and proof of residency.
Ask about special internship in the fashion industry. Next 14 week cycle
begins after Tanksgiving.

ESL Classes
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes (beginner,
intermediate and advance level) are available at no cost to adults.
Students are able to develop profciency in grammar, reading,
listening, speaking and writing akills. Ciics classes, which prepare
individuals for the U.S. citizenship test, are also ofered. Available
at 3450 Dekalb Ave. Bronx, NY 10467.
Classes begin October and continue through Spring 2015.

ISY | In School Youth
Tis free year-round program for juniors and seniors in high
school includes: basic math and literacy skills and general
education tutoring, S.A.T. and Regents prep and more. Our goal
is to empower students academically and provide opportunities
to increase their college readiness and work force exposure. We
also provide college tours, and guaranteed summer employment.
Enrollment begins now through September.

Energy Fitness Center at MMCC

MMCC provides a wide variety of services
for senior citizens in our community
including: hot nutritious lunches served
daily, classes, exercise hour at the Energy
Fitness Center (MondayFridays,
10:30am11:30am and 1:30pm2:30pm),
clubs, parties, socials, trips, referral services
and monthly legal clinic.
Shuttle van service to Main Building is
available. Round trip $3. Participants must
register through the Senior Center for this
free program.
Senior Center Programs are funded by

A fun Jewish multicultural and multiethnic
educational program that tailors varied
programming to the unique needs of
multiracial families! Tis program is geared
to teach children and their families about
the culture and observances of the Jewish
people.
Children and families will enjoy art, dance,
stories, Jewish holiday celebrations, cooking,
family trips and much more.
All multicultural children and their

Program
Mosholu Day Camp is a fantastic traditional day camp where kids
have a chance to explore new activities while making new friends
in a safe and fun environment. Our campers have an opportunity
to grow in many ways and enjoy a summer flled with memories
that last a lifetime.
Camp divisions: Norwood ( 5-7 yrs), Young Blazers: (8-9 yrs),
Blazers (10-11 yrs), Teen Trailways (12-14 yrs), Sunshine and Elan
for Special Needs.
Activities
Tere is no end to the activities that Mosholu campers enjoy.
We ofer instructional swim, free swim, boating, fshing, art,
drama, dance, ftness, gaga, Native American culture,
engineering, orienteering, challenge and adventure, music,
pottery, basketball, tennis, soccer, football, nature, science,
giant games, softball, boom ball, foor hockey, team handball,
and hiking!
Next summers camp program will feature shorter time on the
bus to and from camp, a newly designed trip program,
a new challenge course and more!
