The basic aim of the project is to fnd fault of the gear box.
For this the arrangement is made in order to predict the gear
ratio of the
gearbox and to get the motor current signature of the input
motor. The
motor is made to run in various RPM which is controlled by the
ariable
Fre!uency "rive. Mechanical load is given to the gearbox. The
motor is
run on three di#erent speeds at $%%&'%%% and (%%% RPM
respectively
and the speed of the driven shaft is measured using a
Tachometer. ) such
readings were ta*en for all the ) di#erent gears and the results
are
tabulated for di#erent gear ratios. Motor current vs input speed
are plotted
from the results and analy+ed. ,n the next phase the un*nown
gear is
incorporated in the gear box and the same procedure is repeat
and the values of the two gears are compared and is chec*ed
whether the gear is defective or not.
