6 MORE ARRESTED IN HAZING 13 NOW CHARGED IN RITUAL AT SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE

Donald E. Franklin of the Post-Dispatch staff contributed information for this story.
Police arrested six more men Friday in connection with beatings of fraternity pledges at Southeast Missouri State University
in the days before one of them died.
The men, all associated to Kappa Alpha Psi, are charged with hazing, a misdemeanor.
Altogether, 13 men have been charged in the hazing ritual. Seven were charged earlier this week with involuntary manslaughter
in the death Tuesday of Michael A. Davis, 25, a junior from University City.
Police in Cape Girardeau say Davis and four other pledges endured kicking and beating as part of their initiation into the
fraternity.
One of the other pledges, Cordez Vaughn of Picayune, Miss., said Friday, "I was shocked and everything, but I don't want
to talk about it."
Police say three of the men arrested Friday beat Davis and two other pledges on Feb. 12, three days before Davis died.
The men are Terrence E. Rogers, 21, Ronald Johnson, 22, and Tyrone D. Davis, 22, all of St. Louis. The three, all alumni or
former members of Kappa Alpha Psi, were released after each posted a $5,000 bond.
Also arrested were Karl E. Jefferson, 25, of St. Louis, and two current members: Larry H. Blue Jr., 22, of Florissant, and Eric
A. Massey, 20, who listed his address as a university dormitory.

Jefferson, who is not a student, was charged with three counts of hazing. Blue was charged with five counts and Massey with
four, in incidents that happened between Feb. 7 and Monday, said Sgt. Carl Kinnison of the Cape Girardeau police. They also
were released later Friday after posting bonds of $5,000.
Kinnison said one or two more people might be charged, most likely next week.
Cape Girardeau County Coroner John E. Carpenter said Thursday that Davis suffered from "numerous significant injuries,"
including a fatal blow to his head. Carpenter said Davis suffered several serious blows to his chest and other parts of his body.
On Thursday, Southeast Missouri State banned the fraternity. On Friday, Patricia Volp, the interim director of campus activities,
said the fraternity's paraphernalia and treasury would be returned to Kappa Alpha Psi's regional director. The fraternity, which
had no more than 15 members, had no building on campus.
Although the fraternity forbids hazing, its members recently have been accused of abusing pledges at Southern Illinois
University at Edwardsville and the University of Georgia.
A spokesman for SIUE said Friday that it received at least two allegations involving physical contact about a year ago and that
"appropriate actions were taken." In Georgia, the fraternity chapter was suspended after a pledge who had been paddled was
hospitalized with infected buttocks.
