Work Experience
Bronson Methodist Hospital (1997 - Present)
Registered Nurse (2001 - Present)
Kalamazoo, MI

Radiology Nursing Department 2008 - Present
Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Phone Nurse, and Preceptor
I manage the care of patients needing sedation for outpatient and inpatient procedures
including biopsies, tube placements, MRI scans, and angiogram/angioplasty. I am
responsible for the patients work-up, sedation, and recovery. Additionally, I circulate
and assist anesthesia with complex interventional radiology cases. I am able to work
independently and autonomously, needing very little direction and making complex
decisions daily. I have learned the radiology patient throughput, and I assess and
schedule radiology patients from order to table. When in charge, I run the nurse and
physician schedule, and prioritize the tasks for both groups. I am also actively involved
in the peer interview process, as well as multiple committees.

Surgical Intensive Care, Trauma Care, and Burn Unit 2003 - 2008
Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, and Preceptor
I was a bedside nurse for critically ill and injured patients, as well as being in charge of
the daily operations of the unit. I managed: multiple medication drips, intubated patients,
sedation for procedures, patients with neurological injuries, major burns, medically
complex individuals, and organ donations. I learned to handle delicate family situations
while providing family centered care. I was the chair of the patient education committee
overseeing the improvement of patient education in the Trauma Care/Burn Unit.
Additionally, I was an active member of the staffing committee. I was also routinely
involved in the peer interviewing process for new employees, as well as participating in
annual leadership training. It was in this unit that I learned how to run a busy unit and
manage nursing staff.

General Surgical Unit 2001 - 2003
Staff Nurse and Preceptor
I learned to manage the care for five to ten post-operative patients with a high volume of
discharge and admissions. In this unit, I developed organizational skills, multitasking,
patient care competences, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution abilities.

Certifications
I have completed and maintained the following certifications: Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS),
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), and Advanced Trauma
Critical-Care Nursing (ATCN).
