Project
o Worked on a project on reservoir
characterization
o Objective: To establish correlations between
values of reservoir parameters obtained from
various sources
o The project was mainly focused on data captured
by one well in the Tarapur Formation
o Inputs: Coring, logging and well testing data
obtained from the well
ACTIVITIES:
o The behavior of porosity & permeability
parameters was analyzed and co-relations were
established
o Tried to integrate geological viewpoint by
consulting with geologists in the company
o 3 different flow units were also established
which indicated co relatable reservoir units
OUTCOME:
o Correlations that I established using rock typing
& geology have been integrated into the ongoing
project of GSPC to characterize the reservoir
o The depth wise extent of usage of correlations
was given using the concept of variograms
o I learnt how characterization is extremely
essential in the process of modeling a reservoir
from very limited data

Project
o Worked on the topic Effect of migration of
formation fines on the formation
o Devised an experimental setup which would help
model the effect of formation fines migration in
single phase flow in various reservoir conditions
o Parameters such as fine size, grain size, pressure
difference, temperature can be varied to
effectively duplicate various reservoir conditions
OUTCOME:
o Results can be used to optimize flow rate &
formation damage caused by fines migration.
o The decrease in permeability caused due to pore
plugging can be quantified
o I found out that reversing the flow would
eliminate a large fraction(Like blowing into a
straw pushes a stuck solid particle at the end)

What technical areas interest you most? What would you be passionate about working
on? Why?
The technical areas that I find most interesting are reservoir engineering & production
technology. I have studied 2 courses of reservoir engineering as part of my curriculum &
have done well in both. Also, I have done both my projects on topics related to reservoir
engineering & I look forward to learning more about this vast topic which I have come to
love. A reservoir engineer, on a day to day basis would co-ordinate with his team &
devise ways to optimize the field performance. I enjoy working in a team, love
challenges & am passionate about reservoir behavior. I want to apply these skills to
explain the behavior of a reservoir, which like in the case of the reservoir that I worked
on in my project at GSPC, can be extremely heterogeneous. Finding co-relations between
reservoir parameters and thus estimating their behavior is something challenging and
thus very fascinating to me. I believe this is where I can contribute the most. More
specifically, I find well testing interpretation very interesting.
What personal attributes do you have that will help you succeed in the work place? Give
specific examples from your life that demonstrate such behaviors.
By virtue of my past activities, I believe that I have developed skills such as

Teamwork & Leadership: As a leader of a team of 3 member Public Relations
committee in toastmasters, I have learnt to set targets, plan how to achieve them by
building road maps, delegating effectively and setting deadlines. I have learnt the
importance of integration of viewpoints. As part of executive committee, I encourage
and mentor speakers with potential to go onto competitions outside the club. I have
since learnt to revel in the achievements of fellow club members.

Communication Skills: As a member of Toastmasters Club, I have studied every
facet of speaking and learnt how to communicate effectively. I practice these skills
regularly in club meetings and seek feedback. I have anchored in several SPE Chapter
events including Shell Industry Academia Interface held in ISM Dhanbad which had the
6 discipline leads from Shell on stage & received positive feedback for my stage
management skills. Experience of being a certified judge in Toastmasters has enabled
me to look at speaking from a listeners perspective & has polished my observational &
listening skills, which are essential ingredients of effective communication.

Organizational & Marketing Skills: Having organized events for SPE ISM Chapter
and Plektrum, my skills in this regard are polished. I have learnt how to optimize the end
product, the event. Since getting every aspect right is difficult, the optimization process
is very exciting to me. Also, I have learnt to market ideas and have come to respect the
consumer base and work according to their needs. This I have learnt from my work at
Sharemycampus.

Why are you interested in doing internship with Shell?

Shell is a global company which offers a fabulous mix of inter cultural and inter
functional exposure. I admire the strength through diversity notion that Shell propagates.
The internship would give me a chance to work with a diverse team and get different
perspectives on my respective problem. I would learn to integrate their viewpoints into
my findings the way an industry leader like Shell does.

It would also provide me with an opportunity of a lifetime to learn from projects related
to real world problems and be mentored by industry experts in that field. From the
feedback I have received from past interns, I would be able to learn problem solving in a
new manner & see HSE in a new light. Eliminate, Standardize & Automate as a
workflow process is the most efficient tool that I have come across & have tried to apply
it in the work flow of SPE ISM Student chapter with encouraging results. Thus, the
qualities and mannerisms I learn at Shell would last a lifetime. Shell Technologies India
offers a chance to work in projects which can be from any part of the world, thus giving
the intern wider exposure. This assessed internship would be a big challenge for me, and I
am willing to rise to the occasion and prove myself.

Please give an example of an achievement that you are proud of? And why is it so?
My biggest achievement lies in the two initiatives that I have taken to make a difference in the society. I
have gone out of my way to tackle 2 of the problems that students in India face, namely exposure at
school level & networking with other colleges at college level. I am proud because not only have I
managed to create considerable impact but also mitigated all difficulties encountered in the process by
effective teamwork, diligent planning & proper execution. I have focused on education in particular
because I think this is where I can contribute the most, given my background.
CHALLENGE:
o To increase the exposure of students in schools and colleges

SOLUTION:
o SCHOOL LEVEL: Via Plektrum ( www.plektrum.in ), of which I am the founder, I have tried to
improve co-curricular exposure of students in Ranchi. For this, we design & conduct events
focused on co-curriculars
o COLLEGE LEVEL: Via Sharemycampus ( www.sharemycampus.com ), an online portal that
helps students (doers) from different universities collaborate and hence widen their scope and
develop their initiatives. It has 6 different disciplines like entrepreneurship, sports, technical, etc
to cater to the different interests of students

BENEFITS:
PLEKTRUM:
o I give the students from Ranchi an opportunity to discover their innate talents and develop an all
round personality. I also endeavor to fuel the dreams of the winners. For example, the winner of
our 1
st
event got a full scholarship to study at Newton Classes keeping in theme with his dream of
making it to an IIT. He has since achieved his dream & I feel elated when I think I have
contributed a little to his development. This is one of my biggest achievements.
o I have ensured that Plektrum sustains after I move out of college & the cause doesnt die. The
members that join us receive mentorship from the other founder members to help them improve
their organizational skills. This factor motivates students to join us every year

SHAREMYCAMPUS:
o The website is now an effective way of networking which is reflected in presence of students
from not only in Eastern India but all over India. It has representation from IITs, ISM, Bits
Pliani, Manipal, & many other esteemed colleges.
o Student Collaboration: Students from different institutes can collaborate for mutual benefit. For
example, ISM Dhanbad & IIT Kgp teamed up to bring Simon Webb to perform both in
SRIJAN10 & IITKgp Cultural Fest. Thus cost sharing brought down costs for both institutes.
This was done through the platform of Sharemycampus wherein the organizers from ISM
Dhanbad had discussed this idea & the IIT organizers had come forward to form a team.
