FLAT BAR
U tilising a proven design concept, our Flat Bar system provides
a lightw eight, econom ical solution. Flat Bar is available in tw o
standard thicknesses, but can be application engineered to
m eet bespoke requirem ents. The system is an especially
popular specification for screening applications.

environm ents in w hich non-slip qualities are im portant. Fitted
in the sam e w ay as N eatdek and Flat Bar, N -I Bar boasts a
high strength-to-w eight ratio and a particularly attractive
appearance.
NEATDEK
The N eatdek Tbar open grille system provides
a generous 74% contact area in flooring
application, yet allow s w ater and other liquids
to drain safely aw ay. N eatdek is available w ith
a plain surface, cam bered slightly to assist drainage, or w ith a
longitudinally ribbed finish (w ith or w ithout transverse serrations).
N eatdek is a popular solution for decking applications and elevated
floors such as balconies.

BRISE SOLEIL
Brise Soleil uses curved alternate louvre extrusions to provide
the sam e high perform ance as Louvredek, either as a com bined
w alkw ay/sunscreen or solely as a sunscreen.
l Aluminium extrusions providing
a high quality and aesthetically
pleasing finish, often difficult to
achieve with other materials
l Virtually maintenance free
l Lightweight panels which are
approximately 1/3 of the weight
of steel panels of similar form
l Panels in lengths of up to 7.3m long
by nominal 1m wide
l Retains high residual value and the
aluminium is fully recyclable
l A selection of load bar heights to
accommodate a wide variety of
spans and load conditions
l A feature can be made of the panels
by anodising or powder coating
l Easy installation due to lightweight
panels
l Structural efficiency is achieved by
passing the swage bar through the
load bar without cutting into the top
or bottom edge thus providing a
panel of great rigidity and strength
l Works in harmony with the
environment

The panels are available w ith a plain or serrated
top surface.
Serrated option
The serrated panels provide a positive anti-slip
surface across the entire surface to suit the m ost
dem anding of situations.
N eacos Serrated Flat Bar achieved the highest
rating (R13) w hen tested for slip resistance in
accordance w ith D IN 51 130.
To achieve this rating the flooring surface m ust
m aintain a non-slip condition at an angle in
excess of 35.
N EAC O open grille flooring uses traditional
rectangular load-bearing bars secured into
position by the N EAC O sw age locking process.
The rectangular load bars are available in 3.2m m
and 4.8m m w idths.
Load/span table Maximum clear span (mm)
BOLD The figures in bold show the maximum clear span for the category of loading whilst limiting the
deflection to
1
/200 of the clear span or 10mm, whichever is the lesser.
* Indicates that the clear span has been reduced further to allow for the effect of a 1kN concentrated
load over an area 300mm x 300mm placed at the edge of the panel.
Italics Where spans exceed 1300mm and pedestrian comfort is of paramount importance, the table
provides details of clear spans which produce deflections of 6.5mm.
Serration Weight The tabulated weight should be reduced by 0.7 Kg/m

Stair treads/options
Stairtread m axim um lengths have been calculated based on a sim ply supported condition w ith
application of a 4.5kN concentrated load over an area 150m m square placed at the centre of the
front edge of the tread.
The m axim um deflection is lim ited to
1
/200 of the effective span or 6m m , w hichever is the lesser.
* For tread lengths of 1500m m and greater, the tread has been designed to support the application
of a 4.5kN load w hilst lim iting deflection to 6m m .

Fixing M ethod
The com plete clam p should be loosely
assem bled by passing the bolt through
the saddle clam p (no saddle clam p
required for N eatdek) and bottom
securing clam p, running on the nut tw o
or three threads. The clam ping assem bly
m ay then be fed through the flooring
betw een the tw o load-bearing bars and
as close as possible to the supporting
steelw ork. This operation can be carried
out from the top (w orking) surface of the
flooring.
Slide the clam p assem bly tow ards the
steelw ork until the channel-shaped end
of the bottom clam p is underneath the
steelw ork to its full extent. The bolt should
then be fully tightened, ensuring that the
square nut is located in the channel of
the bottom securing clam p and that the
upw ard projecting tongue of this bottom
clam p is located betw een tw o of the
bearing bars.
