Welcome to Season 2014 - 2015
2014 - 2015 season
ABN 24 809 680 647 - Proudly affiliated to Belmont Little Athletics Centre
Congratulations on joining the Kewdale Little Athletics Club (KLAC)
and to our current members a big WELCOME BACK.
If you are new to KLAC there is a lot to remember and can be
daunting, but we will slow feed and have tried to incorporate
primary information in this flyer. Please refer to it during the season.
To our current members after careful consideration and research of
best practise, the new Committee have made a few changes.
Some forced and others were well considered. The primary
changes include Coaching, Training, Costs and Uniforms. Please
ensure you consider all points and contact your President or
Registrar for any clarification.
Coach's Corner
Due to unforeseen circumstances Coach Will Ford is
unable to return as a Coach this year. The Committee has
been able to engage three (3) Coaching Coordinators
who will oversee the training in the following age groups:
Paula Ninyett - Under 6 9s
Belinda Austin Under 10 12s
Brad Gray Under 13 above (pseudo Head Coach).
Each of these parents are volunteers and have
experience at various sports and at different levels
including Athletics.
We are in the process of engaging Accredited Coaches
who will do specialty work and assist with programming.
That said; please ensure you closely read the section
below titled PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES.

ROSTER positions explained -
A roster for event days will establish and a parent from the family
will be required to assist approximately every 2-3 weeks. Below
explains some of those rolls.

Set up roster (all parents required) you will assist by:
taking trolleys from the shed to the sites
taking tents to sites and setting them up
setting up the net on Discus site 10
helping set up the timing gates
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Because Little As is totally voluntary, clubs cannot operate
without the assistance of parents each week in fulfilling the
many and varied duties required. These include officiating at an
event; managing an age group; recording results; working in
the canteen; assisting at training on a site, to name just a few.
Our club has parent assistance rosters for event days and you
will be called upon to assist in running sites at training sessions on
occasions.
At KLAC we understand that just like our athletes, our parents
come from a diverse range of backgrounds and as such have
different talents and experience. There is a place for everyone
at KLAC and there are a number of ways that you can become
involved. You may have skills that the club doesnt even know
they need. So if you think you can help with something, let the
committee know.
Additional assistance is always required on the club and center
committees and all parents are encouraged to become
involved. Little As is one of the few sports where parents can
become fully involved in their childs sporting interests.
Whatever your experience, dont feel scared about putting
your hand up and giving it a go. After all, isnt that what we
ask our kids to do?
NO PARENT - NO TRAINING POLICY
It is now KLAC policy that if a child under the age of 12 years is
dropped at the Club for either training or competition and does
not have a parent or nominated guardian present; they will not
be allowed to train until that parent or guardian arrives. The
Club will ensure the utmost duty of care in providing your
child/ren with a safe and pleasant environment in which to
train. As such, the Club will not take responsibility for your childs
safety if they are left unattended.

3 Event Rule / Qualification for Centre
Championships -
For our new Little As if you wish to qualify for
Centre Championships generally run late Feb/
early March 2015. You need to be aware of
the following:
Every event is repeated 6 times in the
season (does not include the 3.
Championship Days in Feb/March 2013)
In order to qualify for Championships, an
athlete must have competed in the
event 3 times minimum.
For example, if the athlete does Long
Jump 2 times in the season and 100m 4
times in the season, he/she will be able
to compete in the 100m at
championship but not in Long Jump.
This rule does not apply for Zones (state
event after Championships) but we will
talk about this later in the season.
