Topic: The Impact of Technology in Daily Life


Lesson Plan 3: Advantages and Disadvantages of Inventions of Technology
Lesson Goals:
To expose students to the invention purpose
To improve 21
st
century skills
To encourage them to listen and read the skills by using Online or watching Video
To make them comfortable in assessing computer/ tablets within groups for the
project
To let them listen to the foreign assent
To use computers or tablets in order to construct their own knowledge through the completion
of authentic, meaningful tasks.
To work on the tasks obtaining information from the internet , video- clip and (resources)
To improve students listening to the video (listening skills)
To improve reading skills through watching video ( pictures with the text reading)
To let them know and classify about a particular invention of Cell Phone Advantages
and Disadvantages video
Lesson Objectives:
Given students the inventions pictures / cards in Appendix 1, students will work in a
pair and find out the new inventions from it (in need surf the net) through discussing
with the peers and write down the name with no error.
Given students pictures of the inventions, they will work in pairs and write down their
10 favourite inventions which had affected on their daily life and then find out the
best 5 inventions after sharing and discussing with the peers with no errors.

classroom by teacher, students will access the sites and find out more facts especially
for young children who had impact on their life by writing 5 simple sentences with
80% accuracy.

students will write down the facts about good and bad technology in a group activity
with 90% accuracy after checking errors from the peers.
Given the chances of presentation in the class, students will be able to build up and
practice their speaking and presentation skill in 70% accuracy

cell phone advantages and disadvantages, students will be able to find out the facts
and identify the pros and cons of making video and write correctly one comment on
the video as the feedback and provide their comments on FOR and AGAINST the
video with no error
Given the chances of survey the class, students will be able to find out and explore the
most inventions that have effect on their lives and other's life and express their
thoughts to peers with no error.

will make self-evaluation for their own participant and submit the form to the teachers.

List of materials needed:
A computer or laptop and projector or DVR player and TV
More than 30 different inventions items (e.g. a computer, a fax machine, a lightning
rod, a electric fire pan, etc)
Notepad or notebook and pens
A spreadsheet or A-4 paper for each group
At least two different kind of markers
Sticky gum, Tape or glue to put up group and/or pair-work results on the walls
A copy of appendix A (more than 30 pictures)
One small ball to throw it
