Areading from the LetterofSaint Paul the Apostle to the Romanians. (8: 1-11)
Yourblessings Father
Brothers and sisters, Hence, now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the
law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and death. For what the law,
weakened by the flesh, was powerless to do, this God has done: by sending his own Son in the
likeness of sinful flesh and for the sake of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous
decree of the law might be fulfilled in us, who live not according to the flesh but according to the spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live
according to the spirit with the things of the spirit. The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern
of the spirit is life and peace. For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to
the law of God, nor can it; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the
flesh; on the contrary, you are in the spirit, if only the Spirit of God dwells in you. Whoever does not
have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead
because of sin, the spirit is alive because of righteousness. If the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus
from the dead dwells in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal
bodies also, through his Spirit that dwells in you. Praise be to God always.
Areading from the Second Letterof
Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians
(5 :20-6/10)
Yourblessings Father
Brothers and sisters, So we are ambassadors
for Christ, as if God were appealing through us.
We implore you on behalf of Christ, be
reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to
be sin who did not know sin, so that we might
become the righteousness of God in him.
Working together, then, we appeal to you not to
receive the grace of God in vain. For he says:
"In an acceptable time I heard you, and on the
day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is a
very acceptable time; behold, now is the day of
salvation. We cause no one to stumble in
anything, in order that no fault may be found
with our ministry; on the contrary, in everything
we commend ourselves as ministers of God,
through much endurance, in afflictions,
hardships, constraints, beatings,
imprisonments, riots, labors, vigils, fasts; by
purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, in a holy
spirit, in unfeigned love, in truthful speech, in
the power of God; with weapons of
righteousness at the right and at the left;
through glory and dishonor, insult and praise.
We are treated as deceivers and yet are
truthful; as unrecognized and yet
acknowledged; as dying and behold we live; as
chastised and yet not put to death; as sorrowful
yet always rejoicing; as poor yet enriching
many; as having nothing and yet possessing all
things. Praise be to God always.
Gospel (Luke 4:14-21)
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the
Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the
whole region. He taught in their synagogues
and was praised by all. He came to Nazareth,
where he had grown up, and went according to
his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath
day. He stood up to read and was handed a
scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the
scroll and found the passage where it was
written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to bring glad
tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim
liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the
blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to
proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord." Rolling
up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant
and sat down, and the eyes of all in the
synagogue looked intently at him. He said to
them, "Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in
your hearing." This is the truth. Peace be
with you.

Gospel (Matthew 12:14-21)
But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him to put him to death. When Jesus
realized this, he withdrew from that place. Many (people) followed him, and he cured them all,
but he warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through
Isaiah the prophet: "Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I
shall place my spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not contend
or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, a
smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory. And in his name the
Gentiles will hope." This is the truth. Peace be with you.

Paul to the Corinthians (12 :1-11)
Yourblessings Father
Brothers and sisters, Now in regard to spiritual
gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be unaware.
You know how, when you were pagans, you
were constantly attracted and led away to mute
idols. Therefore, I tell you that nobody speaking
by the spirit of God says, "Jesus be accursed."
And no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by
the holy Spirit. There are different kinds of
spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are
different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone. To each
individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given
for some benefit. To one is given through the
Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the
expression of knowledge according to the same
Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to
another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to
another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to
another discernment of spirits; to another
varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of
tongues. But one and the same Spirit produces
all of these, distributing them individually to each
person as he wishes. Praise be to God always.
Gospel (Matthew 12 :22-32)
Then they brought to him a demoniac who was
blind and mute. He cured the mute person so
that he could speak and see. All the crowd was
astounded, and said, "Could this perhaps be the
Son of David?" But when the Pharisees heard
this, they said, "This man drives out demons
only by the power of Beelzebul, the prince of
demons." But he knew what they were thinking
and said to them, "Every kingdom divided
against itself will be laid waste, and no town or
house divided against itself will stand. And if
Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against
himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand? And if
I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do
your own people drive them out? Therefore they
will be your judges. But if it is by the Spirit of
God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom
of God has come upon you. How can anyone
enter a strong man's house and steal his
property, unless he first ties up the strong man?
Then he can plunder his house. Whoever is not
with me is against me, and whoever does not
gather with me scatters. Therefore, I say to you,
every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people,
but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be
forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against
the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever
speaks against the holy Spirit will not be
forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
This is the truth. Peace be with you.

You know how, when you were pagans, you
were constantly attracted and led away to mute
idols. Therefore, I tell you that nobody speaking
by the spirit of God says, "Jesus be accursed."
And no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by
the holy Spirit. There are different kinds of
spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are
different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone. To each
individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given
for some benefit.
