Jethmalani Says: “Wahabis Responsible For Terrorism”, Ulema Rteact

Our Correspondent
New Delhi: November 22: Leading Indian advocate and former union law minister Ram
Jethmalani’s allegation in an anti-terrorism conference organized here by International
Council of Jurists on Saturday that Wahabis are responsible for terrorism lead to instant
boycott of the seminar by Saudi Ambassador and wider reaction in the country.

Though union minister Moily’s intervention moderated the atmosphere but Ulema are
feeling bruised. Attributing it to lack of information, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President
Maulana Arshad Madani said, “This is the result of extremely negative thinking.”
Presently, he is in Medina on Hajj pilgrimage.

“Ram Jethmalani opened a new front in war against Islam and Muslims in which these
elements come to light by distorting historical facts”, Maulana Arshad Madani said, “He
was in a similar state when he willingly attributed historical events to the Holy Qur’an
and made a condemnable attempt to defame Sheikh’s movement that was launched
against English occupation and not against non-Muslims.”

Terming the allegation that Saudi Arab is haven of terrorists as ‘dreadful’, the general
secretary of Jama’iyyat-e-Ahl-e-Hadees (JAH), Maulama Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi Salafi
said in a written communication, “No doubt, the pleader’s words have hurt billions of
admirers of the great reformer Imam Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdul Wahhab. Such
speech was not expected of a lawyer hailing from India, a country that presents
unparalleled example of civilization, learning and culture, and certainly not from a high
level stage shared by the President of India.”

Emphasizing that terrorism is condemnable, JAH general secretary said, “Since, anyone
can be a terrorist, this is wrong to associate any particular religion, community or country
with it. The religion of Islam is biggest flag-bearer of peace and harmony.” Stressing that
Qur’an and Hadees constitute perennially beneficial guidance for humankind, he sais,
“These are the two bases on which Saudi government is founded and Imam Mohammad
bin Abdul Wahhab was one of its initial architects.”

In a telephonic conversation, Shiite scholar Syed Kalb-e-Jawwad said, “Whether he is

Ram Jethmalani or anyone other than him, this is incorrect for him to link any terrorism
with any community.” He further said, “Terrorist class is actually a pluralistic community
that deems every sect other than itself infidel and liable to murder. Even Wahhabi sect is
not pleased with their practices.”

Expressing regret over Ram Jethmalani’s nonsensical chatter, Maulanas Syed

Nizamuddin, Ameer-e-Shari’at of Amarat-e- Shar’iyyah Bihar and Orissa and general
secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board said, “Chain of allegations against
Muslims made by separatist mentality is an old one.” His secretary Maulana Aneesur
Rahman Qasimi said, “Muslims should ignore it and march ahead.” He told, “Recently, 2
ton load of explosive was recovered in Patna and Gaya from those linked with

1
extremism. The purpose of Jethmalani’s statement is to disturb investigations going on in
right direction.”

Imam and Khateeb of Shahi Masjid Fatehpuri, Dr. Mufti Muarram Ahmad said, “This
only an accusation made under some conspiracy. How he must have been feeling by heart
can be judged from his party affiliation” In a press statement, the leader of Indian Islahi
Movement Maulana Mohammad Abdul Wahhab said, “People like Jethmalani give boost
to terrorism. Ignorance of the man can be judged from the fact that he does not now
correct name of Wahhabi reform movement.”

Government Bound To Give Reservation To Muslims: Khursheed ‘Alam

Our Correspondent
New Delhi: November 22: In a symposium on ‘Government Welfare Schemes: Intentions
& Deviations’ organized today under joint auspices of Khanqah-e-Rahmania (Monger)
and Jamia Hidayah (Jaipur) in Jamia Hamdard Auditorium, union state minister in
independent charge of the ministry of minorities affairs, Khurshhed ‘Alam reassured,
“Congress-led government in the center is bound by its promise to give reservation to
Muslims.”

Giving the details of future reservations, the minister said, “Muslims’ share in 27 percent
OBC quota under Mandal Commission shall be specified and the same scale and
standards shall be adopted for it that were accepted by Supreme Court.” Earlier, These
standards paved the way for Muslims’ reservation in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and
Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Khursheed ‘Alam also told, “We are trying to add districts having 14 percent Muslim
population in the list of minority concentrated districts (MCD). This will bring more
districts like Kanpur, Aligarh, Sultanpur and Farrukhabad in MCD category. He also
promised to appoint 150 monitors at national level for monitoring MCD schemes and told
that 50 percent reservation will be given to Muslims in three universities to be established
in Kishan Ganj, Ajmer and Mysore.

Earlier, the Mohtamim of Jamia Hidayah (Jaipur), Maulana Abdur Rahim Mujaddidi
elaborated on the theme topic and said, “We do not cast any doubt on government’s
intentions but there are practical difficulties in implementation of schemes because
bureaucracy’s intentions are not clear and they want to make the implementation very
complicated.”

Citing the example of Indira Awas Yojna, Maulana Abdur Rahim Mujaddidi said,
“Totalk houses sanctioned under this scheme amount to 2,15,270 but no Muslim is there
whereas Prime Minister has said that Muslims have right to 15 percent resources of the
country.”
