Seeing red!

I had a bit of an off day off recently: that is, a day off that didnt go very well.
Im not exactly a morning person: in fact, some people have even accused me of
being grouchy! I will admit that I like a cup of strong coffee to get me going, so I was not
amused to find the coffee jar completely empty. I live alone, but my sisters been staying with
me for a couple of months and we had the same problem last week. I asked her if she had
used the last of the coffee but she denied it and smiled sweetly, as if butter wouldnt melt in
her mouth!
So, this time I was about to ask her again when she came out of her room with a steaming mug
of coffee. Ive caught you red-handed! I said. She went red in the face. What about you?
You used my best shampoo! Well, this was like a red rag to a bull. We used to
squabble when we were little kids, and suddenly it was like we were teenagers again.
Fortunately, we made up before we got to the pulling hair stage
Well, that wasnt the best start to my day off.
The next bad thing was a letter from the bank telling me my account was in the red. I knew
this must be a mistake, but when I tried to telephone, my phone didnt work. I decided to take a
bus into the city centre to sort things out with the bank and then go to the phone shop.
However, if you live in Cambridge you know that the buses arent exactly reliable, and I had to
wait twenty minutes in the rain till one finally arrived. It was very crowded, and I had to stand,
but then I noticed one free seat at the back. A young man was sitting with his feet up, his dirty
shoes on the seat. I thought if I glared at him hed move, but he only glanced up at me and
stayed where he was.
If theres one thing I cant stand, its rudeness. I saw red! I was just about to say something to
him when the bus stopped suddenly. You can guess what happened: I fell over, and all the
other passengers stared at me. You can imagine how red my face was!
And that, dear reader, was just the beginning of my off day off
