Additionally, internal communications professionals today face the challenges of constantly evolving technology, having limited resources and managing communication with little or no support from senior management and other staff members. And more importantly, with the advancement of technology and social media use, it is increasingly vital to engage with employees to empower them to become brand ambassadors and tell a positive story. POST- FORUM WORKSHOPS Wednesday, 17 September 2014 Registration: 8.30 am Workshop starts: 9.00 am Workshop ends: 12.00 pm Facilitated by: Neryl East, Director, Neryl East Communications About the workshop: Research now shows that regular employees have more credibility than the CEO when it comes to influencing the reputation of your organisation or agency.
Most organisations still try to control their messages and restrict what staff can and cant say rather than empowering them to stand out and be true brand ambas- sadors in todays reputation-driven economy. Through attending this workshop you will: Have a clear understanding of the key role everyone plays in the future of your organisation regardless of position; Assess how effectively your organisation empowers staff to be reputation ambassadors; Have the building blocks for a reputation strategy, driven from the inside of your organisation out Have strategies to address the roadblocks that get in the way of empowered employee communication.
About your workshop leader: Rebecca is a born project manager who as an eight year old was wrangling her sisters fourth birthday party guests who deviated from the run sheet. Shes also a communicator whose been told on multiple occasions, could talk under water with a mouth full of marbles. Lucky for her, theres actually a career that pairs these two extreme traitsmarketing communication. Having worked across the full spectrum of marcomms, in private, public and not for profit, shes experienced in internal change commu- nication, social media management, public relations, event manage- ment and digital solutions. Deciding to strike out on her own she started Butter Communication, a Canberra based marketing communication agency with a simple philosophycommunicate on behalf of the clients. Butter Communication offers strategic advice, development and implementation of communication activities and evaluation of their effectiveness. So why Butter? Because everythings better with Butter! A B Empowering employees to be reputation ambassadors About your workshop leader: Dr Neryl East has a 30-year track record as a communication expert including a career in television and radio and more than a decade in the rough-and-tumble of local government. Shes a journalist by training and knows the engine room of business. Shes called on to advise CEOs on strategic change management and crisis commu- nication. Neryls previous positions include Head of Communications and Marketing at the Australian War Memorial, Manager Communica- tions and Public Relations at Wollongong City Council, Manager External Relations at the University of Western Sydney Macarthur, and journalist, presenter and producer at WIN Television, Wollongong. She is the author of Named and Shamed: Rod Oxley's inside story of the Wollongong corruption scandal, and the Ark Group publications Strategic Internal Communication for Complex Organisations (First and Second Editions) and Implementing an Effective Change Management Strategy. Delivering effective internal communication through change Registration: 12.30 pm Workshop starts: 1.00 pm Workshop ends: 4.00 pm Facilitated by: Rebecca Blewitt, Owner/Managing Director, Butter Communication
About the workshop: Whoever said change is as good as holiday was clearly delirious from lack of tropical beaches! Staff are change fatigued. It seems that on every day ending in a y there is a new change that they are sup- posed to just accept, embrace and move on from. Having implemented all staff changes in one of the biggest Australian Government departments, Rebecca understands how important engaging and informative change and internal communication is. By attending this workshop, you can gain an under- standing of how to enable staff to be active participants in change, not objects to achieve the end goal. This workshop will help you: Think of change, not as an event, but as an ongoing process Recognise that a constant through change is staff Develop engaging internal communication activities and identify new internal communication channels that connect staff Make staff feel empowered Event venue and accommodation Preferential rates are available, be contact and quote "Ark Group Australia" at Rydges Capital Hill Cnr Canberra Avenue & National Circuit Forrest, Canberra, ACT 2603 Phone: 02 6295 3144 www.rydges.com Best Practice Internal Communication within the Australian Public Sector 16-17 September 2014, Rydges Capital Hill, Canberra Delegate Name Job title Email address 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Bookings can be submitted at any stage prior to the 1. event, subject to availability.
