How to open a window between the real life of ships and their crew at sea and the daily work of ship designers? Per-Johan explored different solutions to provide oral, gesture and data feedback between the ship bridge and a designer office. For my work as a consultant in ship design and operation, this lead to the question: what tool can I bring to my meeting with clients and colleagues which can facilitate our discussion on design VS operation?

Developing a advanced technical product is ex- tremely expensive and complex. By using standard products and have them work together in a custom designed casing. This cost could be cut signifcantly. The casing can be produced by 3D printed, laser cut and cnc milled to get a accurate ft and function to fair price. This would also allow for simple upgrades an customization of the units. In the example below, the unit are equipped for video confer- ence, observation, Projection and motion tracking. The projec- tor could be switched to a stereoscopic projector in order to provide 3D visualizations. 360 Camera unit (Motorized) Stabilizing projector 3D scanner (Kinect) Motorized mirror (Refecting projector) Stand mount Standard windows tablet (works as screen and CPU) Ethernet cable (Hooks up to ships com- puter system & logs data) Shock absorbing stand (For outdoor use) Or...
