SAP DATA VOLUME MANAGEMENT

Pre-Checks for SAP Data Volume Management

Managed System
1. Logon to Client 000.
2. Service Preparation Check
o Use T-code SE38 and execute Program RTCCTOOL.
o Click the Settings icon.
o Change the default task-specific settings for the Service
Preparation Check task select Prepare for DVM (Data
Volume Management) service.
o Save your changes.
3. Check for Missing Recommendations.
4. Apply all missing recommendations from the RTCCTOOL using
SPAM/SAINT.
5. Re-run RTCCTOOL and check that all missing recommendations are
applied on the managed system.
6. Schedule the Background Job: SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR
in managed system Client 000 and User : DDIC (Refer SAP Note:
16083 - Standard jobs, reorganization jobs)
Solution Manager
1. Logon to Client 000.
2. Service Preparation Check
3. Use T-code SE38 and execute Program RTCCTOOL.
4. Click the Settings icon.
5. Change the default task-specific settings for the Service
Preparation Check task select Prepare for DVM (Data Volume
Management) service.
6. Save your changes.
7. Check for Missing Recommendations.
8. Apply all missing recommendations from the RTCCTOOL using
SPAM/SAINT.
9. Re-run RTCCTOOL and check that all missing recommendations are
applied on the managed system.
10. Schedule the Background Job: SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR
in managed system Client 000 and User : DDIC (Refer SAP Note:
16083 - Standard jobs, reorganization jobs).
11. Activate the BI content for DVM in the Solution Manager: Go to RSA1.
12. Goto RSKC and make the change as ALL_CAPITAL.
13. Using RSTCO_ADMIN: Check if the BI Content was activated
successfully in Solution Manager.
DVM Guided Setup
1. Go to Solman_Setup in SMD select Data Volume Management and
perform steps to complete configuration for DVM.
2. Go to Solman_Setup Basic Configuration step5 (Configure
Automatically) Execute All.
3. Add the Workcenter Roles : ZSAP_DVM_ALL , ZSAP_DVM_CONFIG,
ZSAP_SMWORK_BASIC_DVM,ZSAP_SM_DASHBOARDS_DISP_DVM
and ZSAP_SM_DVM_EXTRACTOR to the User: sapbasis in Solution
Manager.
4. Goto Solman_workcenter Data Volume Management Extractor
Framework admin.
5. Check for the Extractor errors.
6. Goto SICF and activate the Service for DVM Dash board.
7. Create a Solution or you can use any available Solution.
Configuring DVM(Technical) Scenario Definition
1. Goto Solman_Workcenter Statistics & Trend Technical Scenario
Wizard.
2. Or you can choose only Technical systems instead of Solution.
Configure DVM Analysis for Multiple Scenarios
1. Goto Solman_workcenter Data Volume Management Analysis.
2. Assign the Role: SAP_DVM_SERVICE and SAP_CDMC_MASTER for the
user: SM_SMD in the managed System.
