Literary Analysis

Stanza 1
I wandered lonely as a Cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and Hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden Daffodils
Beside the Lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze

Pharaprase : The writer thought as himself as a cloud that floats over a narutal
landscape without people in it and separated from the rest of the world and roaming around
without a purpose. He projecting his own loneliness on the clouds. He sees a group of daffodil
flowers which he called a crowd which has yellow color but he uses golden instead of yellow
to be more interesting. He expressed that the group of flowers is waving beside the lake and
beneath the trees.

Stanza 2
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

Paraphrase : The writer expressed that the group of daffodils flower is stretch
continuously like a stars in the Milky Way and uses stars that refers to the color of the
daffodils flower which look like star. The writer explain that the daffodils flower is stretched
along the river line or maybe a lake. In the 11

line the writer tells that there are a lot of
daffodils flower with a word Ten thousand but he did not count the number, but just guessing
it.

Stanza 3
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee
A Poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought

Paraphrase : The writer explains that the waves of the river or the lake near where
the daffodil flowers is lining are also made a movement but the movement are not as great as
the daffodil flowers did. A Poet is refer to himself that could not feel anything else except
happiness. He thought as the daffodils flower as a company to hang out with. He keep looking
into the group of daffodils flower but doesnt realize exactly how great of a gift he has just received
with this vision. He expresses a more permanent kind of happiness with the word wealth.

Stanza 4
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the Daffodils

Paraphrase : Now the writer just realize that daffodils were such a great gift to him.
The image of the daffodils is flashes in his mind every time he thinking while feeling blue. When
the memory of the daffodils flashes into his head he feels the joyful and the happiness again.
He expressed that his heart dances along with the daffodils but it does not.
