Duty Free Shopping Each traveller above 18 years of age who has spent more than 48 hours outside Singapore immediately before his/her arrival and not arriving from Malaysia is given duty-free allowance for liquor in the following quantities (i) 1 litre of spirits, 1 litre of wine and 1 litre of beer; or (ii) 2 litres of wine and 1 litre of beer; or (iii) 1 litre of wine and 2 litres of beer

TAX KIOSK Goods & Services Tax (GST) Relief on Imported Goods A 7% GST is levied on all goods imported into Singapore. Visitors, tourists, returning citizens or permanent residents of Singapore will be granted GST relief on new articles, souvenirs, gifts and food preparations (excluding intoxicating liquors and tobacco). Depending on the number of hours spent outside of Singapore immediately before arrival, GST relief is granted up to the following values illustrated in the table below: Period away from Singapore Value of Goods 48 hours or more less than 48 hours S$600 S$150 For goods exceeding the amounts in the table, GST will be levied. GST Relief is not ofered to work permit, employment, student, dependent or long-term pass holders and crew members. How to Enjoy Tax Free Shopping in Singapore As a tourist or visitor, you can enjoy tax refunds on goods purchased under the Electronic Tourist Refund Scheme (eTRS). Heres how you do it:
When Shopping: Shop at stores displaying the Tax Free Shopping, Premier Tax Free or Tax Refund logos. Spend a minimum of $100 at any one shop and obtain the original invoice/ receipt and eTRS ticket from the store. For check-in items: Prior to checking-in the goods, please proceed to the eTRS self-help kiosk at the Departure Check-in Hall (Public Area) to apply for GST refund. For hand-carry items: Please proceed to the eTRS self-help kiosk at the Departure Transit Lounge to apply for GST refund.
You may be required to present the goods at the Customs Inspection counter. Please be ready with your purchased goods, original invoices/ receipts, boarding pass/ confrmed air ticket and eTRS tickets. Upon obtaining approval for the claim of GST Refund: If you have opted for cash refund, please proceed to Central Refund Counter (at GST Refund - Departure Transit Lounge )* for collection of cash.
*Please refer to the terminal maps (page 18, 21 or 25) for the counter locations. You are required to seek endorsement at the Customs Inspection Counter in the terminal where you will be checking in your goods or where your fight will be departing from. You must also depart with the goods on a fight within 12 hours after obtaining approval of your GST refund. Clearing Customs If you do not have any controlled, prohibited or restricted items, or taxable/dutiable items exceeding your GST relief/duty-free concession, proceed to the Green Channel. If in doubt, go through the Red Channel. Customs Tax Payment Kiosk On arrival, you can make a self-declaration on your taxable items, duty and GST payment through the Customs Tax Payment Kiosk. Simply key in the relevant information and the taxes due will be calculated. Please retain the receipt issued by the kiosk for checks when you exit the Arrival Baggage Claim Hall. Prohibited Baggage Items Singapore has a strict policy on travellers bringing prohibited items onboard. You are strongly advised to enquire with airline ground staf before checking- in if you are unsure about any items in your hand- carried baggage, to avoid unnecessary delays. Excess Baggage Most airlines allow up to a maximum of 20kg/44lbs of baggage to be checked in. For excess baggage, you may choose to either air freight it as unaccompanied baggage or pay an excess fee. Guidelines for Liquids, Aerosols and Gels in Hand-Carried Luggage Liquids, aerosols and gels must be in containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each. Containers must be placed in a 1-Iitre transparent re-sealable plastic bag. The re-sealable plastic bag must be completely closed. One re-sealable plastic bag allowed per person. The re-sealable bag must be presented separately at the security screening point. Exemptions will be made for medication, baby food and special dietary items. Liquor or other liquids, aerosols and gel products (more than 100ml) bought from overseas airports have to be sealed in tamper-evident bags. T H R E E Butterfy Garden The worlds frst Butterfy Garden in an airport is designed as a tropical butterfy habitat with a profusion of fowering plants, lush greenery and a 6-metre grotto waterfall. See various butterfy species during the diferent seasons of the year. Visit the educational corners within the garden to gain a deeper understanding on butterfies. Individual enclosures enable you to witness the breeding and feeding of butterfies at close range. Be amazed by the transformation of a butterfy from pupae till before they take their frst fight at the Emergence Enclosure! The garden is also home to a collection of 200 carnivorous or insectivorous plants from about 30 species of Nepenthes - tropical pitcher plants from Southeast Asia, including Singapore. These plants have adapted to growing in nutrient-poor soils by evolving ways of trapping and feeding on insects and small animals to obtain nutrients.
