MATRADE, JETRO TO PROMOTE MALAYSIAN AUTO INDUSTRY
TO JAPANESE AUTOMOTIVE MARKET

KUALA LUMPUR, MONDAY, MAY 17, 2010: Malaysia External Trade Development
Corporation (MATRADE), together with Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), is
coordinating Malaysian automotive companies participation at the Automotive Engineering
Exposition (AEE 2010) in Yokohama, Japan to seek business opportunities with Japanese car
manufacturers and auto part makers.

AEE 2010, which will be held from May 19 to 21, focuses on the latest technology in automotive
engineering and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market. The event is expected to
attract around 80,000 visitors.

The expo will gather automobile-related experts and representatives in Japan and from all over
the world to share views on automotive industrys latest technology and business trends.

National car maker, Proton Holdings Berhad (PROTON) is among the nine Malaysian companies
that will be showcasing Malaysias auto products to the Japanese market as well as other
international buyers of automotive products.

PROTON Exora, Malaysias first home-grown multipurpose vehicle (MPV), will take centrestage
at the event. Exora was an engineering feat for PROTON and it indicates the advancement of the
Malaysian automotive technology.

Malaysias participation at AEE 2010 is part of the Malaysia-Japan Automotive Industry
Cooperation (MAJAICO) project. The cooperation is in line with the agreement reached between
the Japanese and Malaysian governments under the Malaysia-Japan Economic Partnership
Agreement sealed in July 2006.

The MAJAICO project is aimed at helping to uplift Malaysias automotive industry to be on par
with their Japanese counterparts by 2015.JETRO is the responsible body promoting Japans
trade and investment.
