The Prayer Of The Righteous

Intro

We are responsible of all the things being discussed in the previous lessons,
but we can not do it on our own. Prayer is letting God do it so that we can
be found pleasing to God.

The Prayer Of The Righteous

1. Cry to please God Ps 19: 12-14 (see Note 1)
a. our words and thoughts
- to be acceptable
Note 1:
Ps 19:12-14 is a prayer to ask God to examine and search us, simply
because there are many
things hidden in us that we do not know that are
causing us to respond the way we
respond, and realizing that only God
can cleanse us of things hidden in us. But most
of all, we want to be

changed the way God want us to be.

i) v13 presumptuous sins

ii) v14 Let the words of my mouth be acceptable in your sight
iii) Roman 6:12-14 We are not to let sins to have dominion over us
iv) Do not try to please God on your own. We are under grace, we can
pray, Lord I need
you, Lord, to help me Therefore, cry out to
Him to make our words and thoughts to be
acceptable in His
sight.
2. Cry to God for help Ps 141:1-3 (See Note 2)
a. realizing our own inability
b. realizing our need
Note 2:
i. v1 - David: I cry unto thee.Unlike the Pharisee or publicans who did
not have need of
God, David was saying, Please hear me
when I cry, and answer me.
ii. v2 - frankincense (faith). The prayer of faith is fragrance in the nostrils
of God. Let our
prayer be a prayer of faith, and not a ritual
prayer.
iii. v3 mouth. It is admitting our need to have a muzzle over our mouth,
and our need for
the Lord.
iv. Ps 62:5-8 - Admitting our need for the Lord, both in good times and bad
times. Do not
look to the left or to the right, but look to
God alone.
v. Matthew 11:28-30
v28: Cast your care on Him.
V29: And going one step further, Jesus was saying, Take My yoke, let
me teach you (let
me
guide you, lead you), I am meek and
lowly in heart.

Jesus was asking us to pray: Anoint me so that this tongue can be
dedicated to You and
for
You alone.
Conclusion:
If we really want to please God with our tongue we need to cry out to Him, and
really depend on God. God will enable us to overcome even in areas we do not
think is possible.
