Job Capsule:
Under direct supervision, learns the job role for the Surface Data Logging (SDL) service line for the purpose of providing on-location geological data collection and reporting to the customer. Learns the basics of Drilling theory and is oriented into the understanding of mudlogging technique and job duties. Gathers drilled cuttings by depth intervals. Responsible for the transportation of these cuttings. Keeps records of intervals transported. Keeps work area clean. Begins to learn Cutting Description techniques. Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Geology or related discipline and a minimum of three months experience as an Logging Geologist-SDL, I or equivalent relevant field experience. Must have successfully passed company tests or met task guideline requirements. Must have met the minimum competency requirements for the Logging Geologist-SDL, I. Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to standards required. Must possess good communication skills, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills required. Must be able to obtain relevant offshore certificates as required. This is considered the entry level position for employees who typically have very little experience in the petroleum or related industries. This is a field position. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines. Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.
