INTRODUCTION
A Library is the store house of knowledge the following
stream of living thoughts and educational apparatus of
considerable value. This intellectual nerve centre of the school
is the hub of its academic life. It is one of the most useful. The
goal of the school library media centre is to ensure that all
members of this school. Community has equitable access to
book and reading to information, and to information
technology. School library are distinct from public libraries
because they serve as learner oriented laboratory which
support, extend and individualize the schools curriculum.
Researchers have demonstrated that school libraries
have a positive impact on student achievement. More than 60
studies have been conducted in 19 U.S. states and one
Canadian province. The major finding of these studies is that
student with access to well supported school library media
program with a qualified school library media specialist,
scored higher on reading assessment regardless of their socio-
economic statuses.

School library
A school library is a library within a school where
student, staff, parents of a public or private school has access
to a variety of resources. The goal of the school library media
center is to ensure that all members of the school community
have equitable access to books and reading, to information,
and to information technology. A school library media center
uses all types of media are automated, and utilize the
internet for information gathering. School libraries are distinct
from public libraries because they served as learner- oriented
laboratories which support, extend, and individualize the
schools curriculum. A school library serves as the center and
coordinating agency for all material used in the school.
It is a place where pupils go to not only for study but for
enjoyment too. Work and play go side by side in typical
progressive school library. One of the important
recommendations made by the secondary education
commission was that every school has subject library which are
under the charge of subject teachers.




Objectives of school
library
To help teachers and pupils alike update scientific
knowledge.
To facilitate self studies and learning to learn.
To enable pupil participate in discussion and project
work meaningfully
To make co- curricular activities such as participation in
science club activities more meaningfully and dynamic.
To develop the habit of concentrated reading of
knowledgeable books, with purpose.
To develop the habit of reading as useful leisure time
activities.


Organization of school
library
A well- equipped library under the charge of teacher
should be set up in the school.
The teacher can equip the library depending on the
availability of funds and accommodation facilities for the
purpose.
The teacher ha s to be very thoroughly acquainted with
the latest and good books available in the subject.
There should be provision for coverage of topics physics,
chemistry, biology, geology, environment, ecology,
pollution etc...



Purpose of the school
library
The school library exists to provide range of learning
opportunities for both large and small groups as well as with
focus on intellectual content, information, literacy, and learner.
In addition to classroom visits with collaborating teachers, the
school library also serves as a place for students to do
independent work use computers equipment and research
materials to host special events such as author visits and book
clubs; and for tutoring and testing.
School libraries function as a center location for all of the
information available and school library in function as the
literary map to the recourse and material found within the
library.
A school library function as an opportunity for educators
to work with library in support of a recourse center for the
student to be able to safely access the internet both school
work and interacting with each other.

Staffing of the school
Library
In many schools, school libraries are staffed by
librarians, teacher-librarians, or school library media specialists
or media coordinators who hold a specific library science
degree.
The school librarian performs four leadership main roles:
teacher, instructional partner, information specialist, and
program administrator. In the teacher role, the school librarian
develops and implements curricula relating to information
literacy and inquiry. School librarians may read to children,
assist them in selecting books, and assist with school work.
In the instructional partner role, school librarians
collaborate with classroom teachers to create independent
learners by fostering students research, information literacy,
technology, and critical thinking skills.
As information specialists, school librarians develop a
resource base for the school by using the curriculum and
student interest to identify and obtain library material, organize
and maintain the library collection in order to promote
independent reading and lifelong learning.

Booklets on a verity of topic ranging from
environment and ecology to latest development in
science and research finding should be available in
the library.
Reference Material
The library should be fairly well equipped with
reference materials conventional and non-
conventional books include dictionaries,
encyclopedias in your books atlases, maps, charts,
pamphlets, handbooks, manuals, syllabus of different
classes books of knowledge. The non-conventional
reference material consist of all others library books
that may be employed for service any other kind.
Periodicals
Some books periodicals and magazines which
throw light on current research findings should be
available in the library.
News papers
It is essential that the teacher and pupil and
keep well informal of the development that a place in
the field of science all most every day. A local news
papers and one or two other details of all-India
circulation need to provide
Utilization of school
library resource
It is necessary that pupils are taught techniques of locating
relevant reference and resource material in the library
within the least time possible.
Assignment should be given in the form of problems.
Library certainly helps in enriching knowledge and in
developing interest, attitude value system competency
and related skills.
The library today is concentrated to be the intellectual
laboratory of the school.
They need to be supported supplemented and reinforced
by other source of information.








Conclusion
Library is known as the knowledge of gate library
place vital role in education the center point of school
library. The importance of library in school is if help
student for their studies experimental activities
etc...Libraries also helpful to know about the inventions of
scientist in school library play great role library
Is helpful in entertainment also we can spend
free time in library. It gives knowledge develop reading
habit the knowledge we achieve by reading the remain in
our memory. That is the use of reading so increase our
reading habit.
