Our Head Office and student facilities are located in the centre
of London, in the picturesque area of Bloomsbury an upmarket,
safe neighbourhood with many parks, shops, cafes, restaurants,
bars, hotels and museums. Bloomsbury is a student-friendly and
vibrant neighbourhood, as it is the home of a number of higher
educaton insttutons, including some of the prominent colleges of
the University of London.
Our management, administratve and student support ofces are
situated directly opposite the University of London Student Union
(ULU) and Birkbeck College, University of London (UoL). It is from
here that we provide a full range of student support services, both
academic and non-academic.
The College is conveniently situated near the following major
transport routes: Euston and Kings Cross/St. Pancras Natonal and
Internatonal Rail, and Euston Square and Russell Square London
Underground statons. The area is also well serviced by a number
of bus routes, making LSBM easily accessible from all over London.
Courses are delivered at two campuses operated by Birkbeck
College (UoL) and you can choose to study at the Central London
campus in Bloomsbury or at the East London campus in Stratord.
The new campus at University Square in Stratord opened in
September 2013 and is a unique partnership between Birkbeck
College and the University of East London (UEL).

In June 2013 we had a successful review for educational
oversight by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher
Education (QAA) and received the following judgements:
Confdence in LSBMs management of its responsibilites for
the standards of the awards it ofers on behalf of its awarding
bodies and organisatons.
Confdence that LSBM is fulflling its responsibilites for
managing and enhancing the quality of the intended learning
opportunites it provides for students.

We are a Higher Education College located in the centre of
London (Bloomsbury). We deliver full-tme UK higher educaton
courses in Business and Computng at undergraduate and post-
graduate level. From September 2014 we will also deliver
undergraduate and postgraduate Law and Criminology courses.
Our internatonally recognised courses are validated by the
University of Northampton and Pearson. All our teaching takes
place at Birkbeck College (University of London) campuses in
Bloomsbury and Stratord (East London).
As a private insttuton we are commited to providing students
with a study environment which is both friendly and professional.
We take great pride in being able to provide personal guidance,
support, expert tuiton and access to university facilites and re-

We are commited to higher educaton. I have over 20 years of
experience as a UK University academic and previously was the
Head of the School of Law and Professor of Law at Birmingham City
University (2009-2011). Many of our lecturers are distnguished
academics. All of our lecturers have either a Masters degree or
equivalent industry qualifcatons; 25% have a PhD and another
25% are working towards their doctorate. Many of our faculty
members have practce-based experience to provide our students
with a real-world dimension to their academic studies.
Our learning and teaching strategies are student-centred and are
designed to ensure our students atain their full potental. We
value and support integrity, professionalism and academic rigour.

- STUDENT FACILITIES AND LIBRARY
All LSBM courses are classroom-based. They are taught at two
campuses of Birkbeck College (UoL) situated in Bloomsbury and
Stratord. Students beneft from access to high-quality learning
facilites which include well-equipped classrooms with data projec-
tors and audio-visual equipment for interactve lectures. Students
also have access to a range of facilites including cafes and a shop
for provisions.
The IT services available to LSBM students include the high quality
computer laboratories of Birkbeck College and students receive a
printng allowance with their Birkbeck College computer account.
WiFi is available in all study areas, including the library.
Our students use the Birkbeck College Library and have full borrowing
rights. The library is open 7 days a week and the collecton includes
publicatons, books, journals and other learning materials. The
library has computer work statons, photocopiers and audio-visual
equipment and students are allowed to bring their laptops to use
while they are studying.
LEARNING
Lecture presentatons and other learning resources are made
available on-line, so that students are well prepared before arriving
in class. Small class sizes enhance the group dynamics of lessons
and interacton between lecturers and students. Discussion and
student-centred actvites reinforce learning and help students to
apply knowledge in practcal situatons.
e-LEARNING
Our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) provides a wide range of
resources to students and facilitates actvites to support learning
wherever students have access to the internet. These may include:
e-books, lecture slides and other learning resources. The VLE also
provides on-line space for discussions and blogs, permitng efectve

communicaton with tutors and fellow students. Creatng an
e-portolio on the VLE allows students to refect on their progress
and to present documents evidencing their achievements for
prospectve employers.
UNIVERSITY OF LONDON UNION (ULU)
LSBM students are enrolled as associate members of the University
of Londons Student Union (ULU). Run by students for students,
ULU ofers a range of facilites, events and actvites, including a
selecton of services, bars, clubs and places to eat all within one
building. The variety of entertainment organised at ULU includes
epic Friday Fever club nights and chilled-out ULU Vintage
Cinema screenings. There is a range of clubs and societes which
students can choose to join. These include dance (break dance,
hip hop), debate, drama, music, cricket, football and many others.

Access to Birkbeck College facilities was an
excellent opportunity, as we had access to libraries and
classrooms that no similar college could offer!

Supporting LSBM Students
WELFARE AND SUPPORT
Our specialised staf are available to help students with any
non-academic issues that may arise, including informaton about
how to open a UK bank account, apply for a discount on public
transport, fnd their way around London or register with a local
doctor.
STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
LSBM is commited to ensuring that students with disabilites,
medical conditons or Specifc Learning Difcultes (SpLDs) receive
the support they need to succeed. We want to help students over-
come any barriers to learning they may face and to enable them
to reach their full potental, and make the most of their university
experience.
We aim to create an inclusive, positve and respectul learning en-
vironment for all our students by collaboratng with the academic
and administratve departments.
RETURNING TO EDUCATION
There is no upper age limit for applicatons to LSBM. Prospectve
students with signifcant life and work experience, a high level
of self-motvaton and a desire to study and learn new skills are
welcome to apply. We are proud to have assisted many applicants
who thought they would not be eligible for higher educaton stud-
ies. Our successful graduates are now fulflling their dreams.
Our class sizes are small, which means that students beneft from
a high level of interacton with the lecturers. Our world-class and
academically rigorous courses are practcal and focus on helping
students to develop the skills they will need to become successful
in their chosen careers.
LSBM caters to a wide range of study level needs. Every student
benefts from additonal weekly contact tme with his/her Course
Leader, who is specifcally allocated to provide individual help to
improve learning and to resolve academic issues. Students are
also encouraged to partcipate in social and internship experience
schemes with small, medium and large companies to gain valuable
practcal, social and business skills. Many students who contact us
for the frst tme are looking for a way to put their entrepreneurial
ideas into acton by startng a new business.
STUDENT FEEDBACK
We value the opinions of our students and take all of their comments
seriously. Many initatves and improvements have been carried
out in direct response to students feedback. For example, from
September 2013 we introduced an online student portal to enable
students to access their assessment results and print ofcial
College leters. Every student at LSBM is encouraged to contribute
by discussing issues of importance with their Student Academic
Representatve (STAR). Students are also invited to express their
views in the LSBM Student Survey at the end of each semester.
ACCOMMODATION
LSBM assists students in fnding accommodaton during their stay
in London. The College makes use of a network of professional
accommodaton organisatons that specialise in placing students
into suitable and afordable housing. The range of optons includes
single occupancy and shared accommodaton in a choice of neigh-
bourhoods in London. Diferent size requirements and all budgets
are catered for. Our partner organisatons include Unite for students
accommodaton and Hosts Internatonal for home stays.

Work Placements
Ensuring Success in the Work Place
Our Employability Unit displays the latest job opportunities
for current students and ofers help with CVs, Cover Leters and
interview tps to increase their compettve edge in the job market.
They also make the necessary arrangements for students who
want to take part in our work experience programme.
The Work-based Experience module helps students to gain the
skills and experience employers look for in graduates. This module
is assessed and the marks count towards a students fnal mark.

LSBM Students
LSBM is a vibrant and contemporary learning community that
seeks to meet the needs of all our students by ofering networking
opportunites and a uniquely internatonal environment. We are
proud of our diverse and vibrant student body. In 2012-13 half of
our students came from the UK, with the other half of the student
body coming from across Europe and the rest of the world. More
than two thirds of our students were enrolled on an undergraduate
course and the remainder were completng a postgraduate qualifcaton.

Our students are self-starters. They are internally motvated by
personal or professional circumstances to achieve excellent results.
They are quick to embrace new ideas and integrate these into their
studies and their lives.
We ensure that our students partcipate as actve members of
the learning community. Every semester each student group
elects a Student Academic Representatve (STAR) to serve on the
Student and Staf Consultatve Commitee, to ensure efectve and
tmely communicaton between students and LSBM. As part of their
dutes the STARs are also included as full decision-making members
of our Academic Commitee and Course Commitees, which help
shape the way the College runs and the courses are delivered. We
encourage students to engage with their studies and provide regular
feedback to allow us to monitor and enhance our course delivery.
Being a Student Academic Representative at LSBM
is a unique experience. It has taught me many real world
skills that will denitely come in handy in my professional
life. It has also been a fantastic opportunity to take part
in various decision-making processes with the friendly
staff of LSBM, aimed to improve the overall student

I am very happy with the LSBM services and
facilities. Our classes are great and we have been
provided with everything we need. The place where
we study is within a great campus and we are
happy with this. The campus is really close to tube
and train stations and it is very easy for me to get
to the College. The teachers are really focused on
making us understand our courses. They help us and
provide us with many resources to help nish our
assignments on time. At LSBM the target is perfor-
mance and the teachers do their best to motivate us to
gain all the knowledge we need and to be successful.
At the beginning of each term we hold an orientaton day for
internatonal students to help them adjust to their new environment.

Leading Awarding Bodies
All our courses are validated by our academic partners who
confer our academic qualifcatons. We deliver the courses appropriate
to the level of study and assess achievement to a standard that
matches the awards. The degree courses we ofer are validated
by the University of Northampton. These degree courses are the
same as those which are delivered on-campus at the University of
Northampton. Our students take the same modules and complete
the same assessments. Pearson validates our non-degree courses.
Our relatonship with leading awarding bodies ensures that
students receive internatonally recognised qualifcatons that are

Undergraduate Course
ABOUT THE COURSE
This course provides students with a specialist vocational
educaton. It ofers a strong, sector-related emphasis on practcal
business skills and on facilitatng the development of requisite
knowledge and understanding. The qualifcaton provides a thorough
grounding in key concepts and practcal skills. It is comprised of 8
units in Year 1 (Level 4) and 8 units in Year 2 (Level 5), with each
level designed for one year of study*. Each academic year consists
of 2 semesters and students will, on average, be required to reg-
ister for 4 modules/units per semester. Each module class meets
once a week and most sessions are 3 hours long. There is a com-
pulsory module in Student Development throughout the course.
Class sizes do not normally exceed 30 students. Students do not
need to purchase their own textbooks as we provide eTextbooks
for each module. Those who successfully complete the HND may
progress onto our one-year BA (Hons) Business and Management
top-up course, which is validated by the University of Northampton
(see page 28).
All classes take place at Birkbeck College (Bloomsbury and Stratord
campuses), and students have full access to library facilites at
Bloomsbury. See page 7 for details.
* Students who successfully complete one year but do not

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
There are very few careers where a knowledge of business would
not be useful. Many companies rely heavily on marketng and need
to deliver value for money and manage their fnances efectve-
ly. All organisatons, from schools to law frms, need to recruit,
train and develop good staf. What is more, many careers that
do not necessarily require business skills and knowledge at the
outset have the potental to develop into management roles. HND

BSc (Hons) Business Computng Systems top-up course, which is

When I joined LSBM I discovered that the learning
environment and the teaching methods were different from
colleges where I had previously studied. What I liked about
LSBM during my study here was the level of support students

ABOUT THE COURSE
This course is the same as the one which is delivered
on-campus at the University of Northampton. Students take the
same modules and complete the same assessments. The course
provides students with a solid educaton in the essental areas of
business.
The course content satsfes a broad spectrum of individual inter-
ests and career aspiratons and focuses not just on knowledge, but
also on the development of essental skills required in business
and management. During the frst year students are introduced
to a range of essental aspects of business, such as marketng,
management, enterprise and opportunity, fnance and economics.
During the second year students complete modules in strategic
analysis, operatons management, human resource management,
brand management, project management and fnance. In the fnal
third year, students study strategic management, global business
and social responsibility. Students also undertake a module on
career development and complete a dissertaton.
The course is assessed in a number of ways through individual or
group presentatons, and individual writen assignments, reports
and examinatons.

stage of training for both branches of the legal profession. Upon
graduaton, students intending to qualify as a Solicitor or Barrister
of England and Wales can immediately progress onto the Legal
Practce Course (for intending solicitors) or the Bar Professional

Criminology deals with questons such as: What is crime? How
are laws enforced? Why is crime concentrated in partcular areas?
How do you judge and evaluate evidence? How can crime be
prevented?
This course explores both theoretcal and practcal perspectves
of crime. It has the distnctve approach of drawing on the disciplines
of Sociology, Psychology, History and Law. This provides a compre-
hensive introducton to some of the key theoretcal and method-
ological issues at the heart of the discipline and enables students
to acquire and develop a realistc view of this complex social
phenomenon. Some of the distnctve and contemporary issues

Having completed my BBA in Pakistan, I wanted to further my
education at a reputable institution like LSBM. I was quite happy
when I got admitted in 2011. Coming to College for the rst time can
be a stressful experience, but LSBM understands this and does its best
to make new students feel at home as quickly as possible. Teaching
takes place in beautiful buildings; there are fantastic facilities and a
lively and friendly student body. The College is located in the centre of
London so it was easy to travel to by public transport. I was taught by
lecturers who at the same time are experts in their professional areas.
What more could I ask for? Having completed my degree I can look at
problems from a different angle. LSBM broadened my knowledge.

ABOUT THE COURSE
The MSc Management course aims to equip graduates from a
wide range of disciplines and backgrounds with the knowledge
and implementaton skills to pursue a career in management.
Experience or qualifcatons in management are not required.
Students with experience at the managerial level may wish to
consider the MBA course.
This course is specifcally designed to meet a real and growing
demand amongst well-qualifed young people. Increasingly,
employers are seeking graduates with skills and knowledge which
are not found (or perceived by employers to be found) among
many recent graduates. The course aims to provide students with
such skills and knowledge, giving them a compettve advantage in
the graduate management market in the UK and throughout the
world.
There are a variety of assessments which include essays, research
papers, case studies, portolios, oral presentatons, examinatons
and a fnal dissertaton.

This course provides students with a generalist, broadly based
management qualifcaton, which prepares them for a wide range
of careers. It is partcularly relevant to those applicants without a
business background (either academic or employment) who are

Finance
Competitive Tuition Fees
Our tuiton fees cover all registraton fees, examinaton fees and
membership of University of London Student Union. We ofer
students with two fnancing optons:
1] STUDENT LOANS COMPANY (SLC) FINANCE
2] PRIVATE FUNDING
1] Student Loans Company Finance
Our BTEC Higher National Diploma courses taught at the
Bloomsbury campus are registered for funding through
the Student Loans Company (SLC). This enables our UK and EU
students to apply to the SLC for tuition fee loans. For eligible
students maintenance loans and grants are also available.
UK, EU and EEA students who are completng one of our
BTEC Higher Natonal Diploma courses taught at the Bloomsbury
campus are eligible for funding from the Student Loans Company
(Student Finance England), subject to satsfying certain criteria.
Students require a valid passport, UK Natonal Insurance number,
current UK bank account and a valid e-mail address. Tuiton fee
loans cover the cost of the students undergraduate tuiton fees.
The loan is only repayable once a student has graduated and has
annual earnings over a specifed level. For eligible students a
maintenance loan or grant may also be provided to cover a stu-
dents living costs. Additonal support is available to students with
disabilites and those with adult or child dependants. Specialised
LSBM staf are available to provide advice and assistance with
regard to the Student Loans Companys eligibility criteria and
applicaton procedures.
2] Private Funding
If a students fees are not paid through the Student Loans Company,
50% of the frst year fees must be paid once the student accepts
a place on one of our courses. Students have the opton of paying
the balance either on enrolment or by six monthly instalments.
METHODS OF PAYMENT
We accept the following methods of payment: bank transfers, West
Union, credit and debit card (through PayPal), cheques and cash.
LSBM proved to have very capable and understanding
people by supporting and directing me to obtain a loan
from the Student Loans Company.

The process of applying for a loan from the Student
Loans Company was very easy, especially given that LSBM
staff became involved in solving certain issues. It proved
that LSBM staff really care about their students
SCHOLARSHIP AND BURSARY PROGRAMMES
All new degree students are eligible to receive either a scholarship
or bursary. Students whose tuiton fees are funded through the
Student Loans Company will receive their bursary as a cash payment
into their bank account. Full details are available at:

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
If applying by email, you must submit a scanned copy of all avail-
able documents with your applicaton. If applying by post, please
send a photocopy of each document. Please do not send original
documents. If your applicaton is successful, we will need to see
the original documents when you come to enrolment.
If you are stll completng qualifcatons, a transcript of progress
to date should be provided, together with an indicaton of when
fnal results will be published.

Internatonal students also require:
