BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RULES

Team managers are responsible for the eligibility and conduct of all their players. It is mandatory for every participant to
follow the following rules and regulations:

POSTINGS
Schedules for games and game results will be posted on the Information Board of LTI.

PRE-GAME
All players must sign their Attendance Sheet before game time. OBSERVE PUNCTUALITY.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
Players may play for ONE TEAM ONLY. Players playing for more than one team will lose their eligibility and cause
forfeiture for their teams games.

UNIFORMS:
1. All teams must wear a t-shirt of the same color or a Jersey that have a number on the back.
2. Gym shoes MUST be worn.
3. The following items are NOT ALLOWED on the basketball court:
o No pockets or belt loops on pants or shorts
o No tear away pants
o No metal barrettes or bobby pins
o No Hats
o No bandannas
o NO JEWELRY!!!
o NO CUTOFF T-SHIRTS!!!

GAME TIME
Game time is Forfeit time. OBSERVE PUNCTUALITY. You must have 5 players present to start the game. If during the
game your team consists of less than 5 players the game is a FORFEIT, meaning, it is recorded as a loss for the team and
the other team will be declared as a winner by DEFAULT.

PLAYING PERIOD
A game consists of two halves, 16 minutes each (RUNNING TIME) with 3 minutes between halves. The clock WILL stop in
the LAST MINUTE of the FIRST HALF for any foul, but it will still be running time for any substitution, violation, or jump
ball. The clock WILL stop for any substitution, foul, violation, or jump ball during the LAST 2 MINUTES of the SECOND
HALF. The clock will only stop during other times for an official time-out or injury time-out.

TIME OUTS
Each team is allowed one time-out per half. Time-out duration will be 20 seconds. Time-Outs do not carry over into
other halves. In case of an overtime period, each team will be awarded one additional time out per overtime period.

OVERTIME
If a team is tied at the end of regulation time, there will be one 2 minute overtime period. It will no longer be running
time so the clock, then, will stop on each whistle. If the score is still tied at the end of the overtime period, there will be
as many 2-minute overtimes as necessary to determine a winner. For all overtime periods play will begin with a jump
ball. Teams will keep the same basket throughout overtime as in the last half of regulation and all fouls from the second
half will carry over as team fouls.
MERCY RULE
The game will end if one team is ahead by 30 points at the 10 minute mark in the second half or any time after.

SUBSTITUTION
Substitutions are ONLY allowed on a dead ball. Subs must inform the table of a substitution.

DUNKING
Dunking or hanging on the rims is NOT permitted at the Lingayen Technological Institute. Any player that dunks or
grasps the rim, except in the case to avoid a serious injury, will receive a technical foul. The participant who dunks will
not be ejected from that game, but will be suspended for the next game following a meeting with the Administration
Staff. This rule is in effect before, during, and after the game.

FOULS and VIOLATIONS
Official Rules on Basketball Fouls and Violations shall be followed. The following are emphasized rules on LTI Basketball
Tournament:
1. Five personal fouls per player maximum per game. A technical foul also counts as a personal and team foul.
2. The following situations may result in a technical foul:
a. Illegal substitution; subbing without reporting in at the table.
b. Cussing, delay of game, unsportsmanlike conduct
Cussing: The use of profane language is NOTnecessary and will NOT be permitted during a game. A technical
foul will also be assessed to any player that displays poor sportsmanship.
c. Interference or verbal abuse from the team bench or crowd supporting the team.
d. Illegal equipment.
Technical fouls are not limited to these situations alone.
If a player incurs a technical foul, he shall be warned.
If a player receives 2 technical fouls in the game, that player will be SUSPENDED FROM THE REMAINDER OF
THAT GAME! (Suspension is up to the discretion of the President)

To sustain and/or maintain the needed DISCIPLINE of students enrolled at LINGAYEN TECHNOLOGICAL
INSTITUTE the school reiterates that aside from these rules, the formulated strict RULES and REGULATIONS signed by
the students are in continuous effect. Any student who violates any of the Rules and Regulations in Lingayen
Technological Institute will be dealt with accordingly. Disciplinary action taken against the violators will depend on
the gravity of the violation/offense.

Moreover, this is shall serve as a certification that the following students/players who signed below have read
and understood the LTI Basketball Tournament Rules this 2
