TIME TO GET THE #X OUT AND
HELP END TEXTING WHILE DRIVING IN PENNSYLVANIA
AT&T Works to Raise Awareness, Help Provide Solutions for Texting and Driving
PHILADELPHIA , PA (SEPTEMBER 18, 2014) As part of AT&Ts September 19
nationwide day of action, AT&T today called on all Pennsylvanians to join together to address a
dangerous practice that puts millions of Americans at risk: texting while driving.
For the first time this year, Pennsylvanians can text their pledge to never text and drive.
Individuals can text the keyword icwpa to 464329. The pledge and the text are free.
In addition to developing the text-to-pledge feature and sharing information about the
campaign with It Can Wait advocates across the Commonwealth, AT&T also teamed up with
Montgomery County Health Department officials who are encouraging community members,
workplace staff, school faculties and students to Paint Montgomery County Blue by wearing
blue on September 19 to show support of safe driving. Groups can email photos to
publichealth@montcopa.org to be shared on MCHDs website and social media pages.
In addition, Lancaster City Council and Mayor J Richard Gray have declared September
19 as It Can Wait Day of Action in the city with a resolution which passed unanimously last
week.
And, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will include reminders on electronic signs
along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, reminding drivers to not text while driving.
