Abstract
The aim of this is known antiseptic gel formulations for the manufacture of Patah Tulang
(Euphorbia tirucalli) Twigs that do not cause side effects. The research was conducted in
Yogyakarta, limited research object variable variations extract of patah tulang twig as
independent variables and the effectiveness it as a antiseptic gel who against the inhibition zone
of bacteria and wound recovery in rats as dependent variable. The method is quantitative, by
measuring the diameter of inhibition zone Stapylococcus aureus and wound recovery in female
wistar rats by descriptive analitical method. In this research creates an antiseptic is not perfect,
but the data obtained inhibition zone of bacteria and recovery rats. Twig extract concentration
patah tulang twig 75% effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria Stapylococcus aureus with
diameters average of 3.25 cm while the twig extract extract concentration patah tulang twig
extract 50% effective in wound recovery that average is 70-90% of the initial wound for 4 days.

Keywords: Euphorbia Tirucalli, Antiseptic gel, Stapylococcus aureus

Introduction

The cut or burn is very vulnerable to a variety of bacteria, both gram positive and negative
bacteria. In many cases, cuts or burns are usually treated with povidone iodine 10% although
some are known many known side effects, such as sensitivity, local erythema, pain, mucosal
erosion, and the key risks associated thyroid function (Andini, Journal of Media Medika Young
, 2012).

Method

The method of this research is the stage of preparing the tools and materials needed in research.
Then extraction by maceration method, at this stage patah tulang twig is soaked using ethanol

for 3 x 24 and then filtered. Then evaporation, at this stage the twig extract is evaporated to
separate the extract and solvent use buchi evaporator. Then testing bacteria with different levels
at this stage, include extracts of twigs with variation in levels of a petri dish containing the
bacteria and then measuring the diameter of inhibition zone Stapylococcus aureus and
eventually the twig extracts in the test with the female Wistar rat strain to determine the level
of recovery.

Results and Discussion

The result of measuring the diameter of inhibition zone Stapylococcus aureus, refer to Table 1.
Usually the greater the concentration of the extract greater inhibitory zone. But at this testing
the concentration of 75% resulted in the greatest inhibition zone diameter that is 3.5 cm.

Measurement wound female Wistar rat strain, was conducted using descriptive analysis, by
measuring the length of the scar compared with the initial wound and descriptive information
of each measurement. In this experiment the concentration of twigs extract 50% of fractures are
the most effective with the percentage of recovery reached 70-90% within 4 days with scars
disappear. refer to Graph 2.

So, we can conclude from the data obtained that the patah tulang twig extract (Euphorbia
Tirucalli) 100% can be used in the manufacture of antiseptic gel.
