Frequently Asked Questions How can I split wall with layers to different wall segments to make my design workflow more convenient? I spend a lot of time with changing the joins between walls. How can I manage the joins more faster? How can I get a gravity centre point of the wall? Smart Walls Working with Walls Decomposes Wall layers to separate wall types by user predefined configuration. Ability to fully control joins and gap distances between walls. Inserts Gravity Centre Point to the selected walls. Renumbers walls in different ways. Smart Walls Smart Walls Autodesk

extension for walls managing,
distributing and changing joins. Modify/Calculate Parameters Modify/Calculate Parameters changes parameters of hundreds grouped or sorted different walls with one click.
Use right click functions to do modifications with parameter values. Modify/Calculate Parameters Change Selected Parameters Change Selected Parameters changes values of selected walls. Modify/Calculate Parameters Delete Selected Elements Delete Selected Elements deletes selected walls from the model. The function can be activated by selecting whole row from the list. Modify/Calculate Parameters Write Orientation Write Orientation writes orientation (north, south, west, east) for selected walls to user created or selected instance text parameter. Result: Modify/Calculate Parameters Set Location Mark Set Location Mark writes grid names where the wall is located. Modify/Calculate Parameters Insert Gravity Center Point Insert Gravity Center Point adds user created element (generic models category) to selected wall that shows gravity center. Modify/Calculate Parameters Calculate Elevations Calculate Elevations calculates Z coordinates for selected walls and writes values to selected parameter. The function works with instance length parameters. Project Z coordinates of walls bottom are written into users created instance length parameter. Modify/Calculate Parameters Calculate Coordinates X,Y Calculate Coordinates X,Y calculates X and Y coordinates for selected walls and writes values to selected parameter. The function works with instance text parameters. Shared coordinates of walls middle point are written into users created instance text parameter. Decompose Walls Configuration Decompose Walls Configuration select where opening will be added after Decompose Walls function.
Openings can be added to the structural layer of the wall:
or to the external layer: Decompose Walls Decompose Walls spites selected walls to the separate walls.
Wall type name will be the same as material name plus the thickness of the wall.
Gap Configuration by Wall Type Gap Configuration by Wall Type change gap settings for every wall type from the current project.
Allow Changing Joins select if wall joins can be changed;
Gap Distance set a distance for gap.
Green rows shows the wall types that are already used in the project. Wall Modification Configuration Wall Modification Configuration select in what sides the wall has to be shortened after Disallow Joins function.
Shorten at Both Ends: Shorten at Start Point: Shorten at End Point:
Disallow Joins Disallow Joins disallows joins between selected walls by predefined settings. Settings for this function are under Gap Configuration by Wall Type and Wall Modification Configuration.
Allow Joins Allow Joins joins the end of selected walls.
Change Gap Distance to Default Change Gap Distance to Default changes gap distances to default gap distances for selected walls.
Default gap distances can be changed under Gap Configuration by Wall Type: Shorten Picked Wall End Shorten Picked Wall End makes wall shorter with predefined gap distance in the end for selected walls.
Pick the side of the wall that has to be shortened:
Lengthen Picked Wall End Lengthen Picked Wall End makes wall longer with predefined gap distance in the end for selected walls.
Pick the side of the wall that has to be lengthened:
Reverse Picked Wall End Reverse Picked Wall End reverses wall end with predefined gap distance for selected walls.
Pick the side of the wall that has to be reversed: Smart Walls Benefits The Smart Walls Revit add-on expedites your design processes:
