Pastors have untold secrets. Have I gotten your attention? No, the secrets Im talking about have nothing to do with hidden sin or character flaws. Im talking about things that need to be said, but pastors probably wont tell you themselves. Because of that, Ill tell you myself. The following items are summarized from an article entitled, 7 Secrets Your Pastors Wish They Could Tell You (But Probably Wont, by Shane Bishop at www.churchleaders.com. Here they are:
1. Dont give them another book to read. They usually have plenty already. Its better to recommend a particular book so they can pick up a copy if they choose to read it. If you do give them a book, please dont ask them continually if theyve read it. 2. Dont complain about something just before worship. Nothing distracts a pastor more than hearing a complaint or a problem just before church starts. 3. Dont just drop-by the church office unannounced. A pastor deals with countless deadlines, and emergencies. Just dropping-in for a chat may put them in a bind. An appointment will give your pastor an opportunity to give you their full attention. 4. Dont call them at home unless its an emergency. Most dont consider that home is where pastors spend time with their own families. Family is also a pastors ministry. 5. Dont communicate your frustrations electronically. Venting negative feelings and frustrations this way is most often received in the worst possible way. 6. Dont expect long conversations on Sunday mornings. A pastor needs to dialog with lots of people. If you need more than 10 seconds of your pastors time, let it wait for another time. 7. Remember, just about everything you say gets back to the pastor. If youre going to talk behind your pastors back, say really good stuff. That gets back to them too.
Well, there you have it. 7 things your pastor may not tell you, but your district superintendent will. By the way, dont forget that October is Pastor Appreciation Month District Goal: $5,000 WHY ARE TENTS NEEDED? Prime Time Notes Director: Bette Edwards Phone: 859-987-1960 Happy September! I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Grandparents Day! What a blessing God has given us to send these little ones for us to love and mentor!
I have heard this reading before, but when I saw it recently, I thought how appropriate for us as the years pass swiftly by...we may not have all we thought we needed early in life, but God has graciously given us just what we need to be men/women He can use:
I asked God for strength that I might achieve. I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey. I asked for health that I might do greater things. I was given infirmity that I might do better things. I asked for riches that I might be happy. I was given poverty that I might be wise. I asked for power that I might have the praise of men. I was given weakness that I might feel the need for God. I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. I was given life that I might enjoy all things. I got nothing I asked for, but everything I had hoped for. Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered. I am, among all people, most richly blessed! Written by an anonymous Confederate soldier.

Introducing Pastor Pete, serving as Lead Pastor at our Morehead Church of the Nazarene!
Where were you born? Cedar Falls, IA
When & where did God call you to preach? The first time God called me to preach was as a teenager at First Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Falls, Iowa. After running from the call, God confirmed my call to preach late at night in my home during personal devotions. He used Acts 26 to confirm my call.
Tell us a little about your family. I am married with two children. My wife is a registered nurse and is my biggest supporter. My son is 19 and in his first year at KMBC. He is undecided on his major. My daughter is 18 in her last year of high school. She attends Lakeside Christian Academy.
Your favorite food is. What isnt would be an easier question. I do like seafood and Italian. I was raised in Iowa so I am a meat and potatoes man.
If you had a $1,000 to spend frivolously today, how would you do it? I would probably buy a new computer for my wife or I would consider buying a tablet for me. I might even consider buying a small fishing boat. Ok, my wife would have a new computer.
How did you meet your lovely wife Carmel? It was a blind date and she said she was sick and didnt go on our first date. Praise the Lord I had a second chance.
A fun day for you would always include. Family
If you could provide one wish for your Morehead Church family, what would it be? To have a mortgage burning!
Your most embarrassing moment in the pulpit? I went to say Pastor Petes Boots Instead I called my self pastor Poop I just kept right on preaching. I didnt realize what I had said. Everyone else was in stitches.
Give us one idea of how to reach more people across the EKD for Christ. First and foremost is to be a Spirit-Filled church, allowing this life of holiness to be manifested inside and outside the church. The other is to be willing to adapt methods without changing the message!
Thanks, Pastor! Blessings to you and Carmel.

Call to Prayer for Nazarene Publishing House (NPH) We are now at a critical juncture in the survival of NPH, and unless major changes are made, the sobering reality is that NPH could cease operating as we have known it. Therefore, the Board of General Superintendents is calling the Church of the Nazarene to prayer, seeking Divine intervention and guidance for the future of NPH. This is an excerpt from an NCN Global New Summary dated Aug. 2, 2014. The full document can be found at www.ncnnews.com. Please be praying!
