GEORGIAN CULTURE

DAYS IN THE
KINGDOM OF THE
NETHERLANDS
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the restoration of the Independence
of Georgia, the Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands,
with the support of the First Lady of Georgia Mrs. Sandra Elisabeth
Roelofs, is organizing Georgian Culture Days on 23-26 May, 2011.
The Georgian Culture Days will be aimed not only at promoting Georgian
cultural heritage and traditions, but also at making Georgian trade,
economic and touristic potential better known and appreciated among
people representing different spheres of interest in the Kingdom of the
Netherlands.
Join us and experience the flavor of Georgian Culture- the taste of its
one-of-a-kind ancient wines, dazzling Georgian dance, folk music and
the unique pieces of Georgian arts and crafts.
23RD OF MAY- PHOTO EXHIBITION
CityBooks (city-books.eu/en/cities/p/detail/tbilisi) is a new European project initiated by the Flemish-Dutch House deBuren. Citybooks presents short stories or series of poems in
which an interesting city plays an important role. Five authors and two photographers take up a residence for two weeks in the city concerned and process their experience and
impressions into writings and photographs about the place.
Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, is the second city within the project. 48 impressionistic photographs taken in Tbilisi by a Belgian - Filip Berte and a Georgian photographer - Kakha
Kakhiani will be exhibited for public observation.

23RD OF MAY - GEORGIAN CONCERT
the event will be hosted by one of the most prestigious concert halls Lucent Danstheatre in The Hague. One of the best Georgian folk music and dance ensembles Rustavi
(ensemblerustavi.com/eng/) will be demonstrating their elaborate choreography, excellent costumes, and brilliant performance. Alongside the Georgian dance, the audience will
also be ofered a great opportunity to listen to music performed by Nino Gvetadze (ninogvetadze.com/main_set.htm), a very famous and popular Georgian pianist living in the
Netherlands.

WINE TASTING
24TH OF MAY - GEORGIAN WINE TASTING
hosted by the fve-star Hilton hotel in The Hague. During the day, diferent wine companies, sommeliers, wine importers, wine shop and restaurant owners, distributors, journalists
will have a chance to enjoy the taste of rustic old-world style wines, kindly brought to the Netherlands directly from Georgia, the country claimed to be the oldest wine-producing
areas in the world. Wine Tasting will be followed by the reception on Behalf of the First Lady of Georgia Mrs. Sandra Elisabeth Roelofs.
The event is co-hosted by the Georgian National Tourism Agency (gnta.ge) and State Department of Vine and Wine of Georgia (samtrest.gov.ge). The visitors will be ofered an
excellent opportunity to observe more about what Georgia has to ofer to the Dutch tourists, ancient wine making traditions and diverse cuisine.
The unic Georgian polifony songs will be performed by Georgian folk music and dance ensemble Rustavi

GEORGIAN MODERN ART: 20 YEARS OF FREEDOM AND
GEORGIAN OPEN AIR FAIR
25TH OF MAY - EXHIBITION OF MODERN GEORGIAN PAINTINGS
The Arts Centre of Nieuwspoort(http://www.nieuwspoort.nl/en_US/home/) in the Hague will host the exhibition of the private collection of Rosa Bandury (Georgian collector
of modern arts and an artist). The undiscovered paintings of modern Georgian painters- Alexandre Bandzeladze, Iliko Zautashvili, Ilia Chitadze, Keti Kapanadze, Luka Lasareishvili,
Gia Edzgveradze and Oleg Timchenko will be exhibited.

Georgian Open Air Fair - The Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Georgian National Tourism Agency, State Department of Vine and Wine, National Intellectual
Property Center and Georgian Bussiness Group are ofering you the possibility to visit Georgian Expoin the heart of The Hague Plein square.
There will be four pavilions set up each representing diferent dimension of Georgian culture:
Pavilion of Tourism- visitors will have an opportunity to learn more about the sightseeing in Georgia and the touristic potential of the country;
Traditional Georgian Souvenir expo-sale various Georgian souvenirs, museum replicas of Georgian applied arts, jewelry, enamel works, traditional weaponry, clay works,
embroidery will be exhibited and will be available for sale;
Georgian Culinary and feasting arts- visitors will be able to taste the unique favors of the traditional Georgian dishes;

GEORGIA : CRADLE OF WINE
The pavilion will exhibit and ofer wide varieties of Georgian wine for tasting.
The fair will be seasoned with the Georgian polyphony music preformed by Georgian folk music and dance ensemble Rustavi.
