METHOD STATEMENT FOR TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE

PROTECTION SYSTEM
1.0 PURPOSE
To test the sprinklers and Wet Riser equipment for leaks and defects and to perform all required acceptance tests in
accordance with NFPA 13, NFPA 14 NFPA !" #$nspection and testin% of water &ased Fire Protection '(stems)*
2.0 SCOPE

The scope of this method statement co+ers the testin% commissionin% of the installed sprinklers and Wet Riser
equipment within the pro,ect in accordance with the followin%*

a* A flow test will &e conducted for sprinkler s(stem*
&* Water flow will &e esta&lished &( openin% the inspector test and drain +al+e of >one control

c* 3nsure that an audi&le alarm will result within " minutes #As per NFPA 13 9lause ?*@*1)
after flow &e%ins and remains until the flow stopped*
d* 3nsure that water motor %on% will operate in the pump room*

a* After completin% the h(drostatic pressure testin% of wet riser pipin%, a flow test will &e
conducted to ensure operation of the landin% +al+e*
&* 7nwind the ! AB dia fire hose and connect one end of fire hose to &ranch pipe and other end
to the outlet of landin% +al+e*
c* 'lowl( turn the hand wheel of the landin% +al+e until constant flow throu%h the &ranch pipe
outlet*
d* C90 Fire '(stems will demonstrate ! No 0andin% +al+es in each floor to the 9onsultant*

a* ;nce the hose reel pipin% is under pressure and tested, a flow test will &e conducted to ensure
proper operation of the hose reel*
&* 7nwind the hose from the hose reel, and after remo+in% !-3 meter of hose from the hose reel,
the automatic +al+e will open automaticall(*
c* ;pen the no>>le check the flow +isuall(*
d* C90 Fire '(stems will demonstrate ! No 2ose reels in each floor to the 9onsultant*
5.0 RECORD AND REPORT DATA

"*1 A written report shall &e prepared &( Fire Protection 'pecialist upon completion of Testin% and
commissionin% to certif( the results*
"*! All the test results will &e recorded in the test format, which has &een prepared inline with the NFPA
format* NFPA test formats are attached to this method statement for appro+al
"*3 $nspection request dul( si%ned-off &( main 9ontractor and 9onsultants*
6.0 SAFETY
?*1 All PP3 such as helmet, safet( shoes, harness, %lo+es, etc shall &e used &( the personnel, as required*
?*! Warnin% si%ns shall &e placed at required locations durin% pressure testin% of pipe work*
?*3 ;nl( e4perienced and skilled personnel shall &e en%a%ed for carr(in% out the pressure testin% works*
?*4 All other precautions shall &e followed as per esta&lished pro,ect safet( procedures*
?*" 'afet( officer shall check and ensure safet( measures are followed as required*
?*? All concerned shall &e notified prior to testin% acti+ities are commenced*
