Antoine Duhamel (1925-2014) French composer Antoine Duhamel passed


away on Sept. 11 at the age of 89. Famous for his collaborations with French New
Wave masters Jean-Luc Godard (Weekend) and Franois Truffaut (Stolen Kisses),
Duhamels distinctive stylesymphonic compositions punctuated with syncopated
rhythm and dissonant toneswas enduring in both French and international
cinema. In the 1980s, Duhamel founded lcole Nationale de Musique de
Villeurbanne, dedicated to educating young artists in music, drama and dance.

ESPN Drafts Brian Tyler Brian Tyler is ready for some football! On Sept. 7,
ESPN premiered new music for its NFL Studio shows including Sunday NFL
Countdown, NFL Live and NFL Insiders. In addition to composing music for
ESPNs programs, Tyler wrote a new NFL Gridiron theme that will be used
throughout ESPNs programming and its highlight reels. Of the opportunity, Tyler
said, As a life-long football fan, composing the NFL theme for ESPN was a dream
come true for me.... I really wanted to bring to life the real life drama and athletic
power that the NFL represents.

ASCAP Gala to Feature Elliot Goldenthal Elliot Goldenthal will be a special
guest at ASCAPs International Gala of Film Music at the Krakow Film Music
Festival. Goldenthal will present his Gothic Suite, a 23-minute work based on his
themes from Joel Schumachers Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. The
Beethoven Academy Orchestra and the Polish Radio Choir will also perform suites
from Spartacus, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Hours, Breakfast at Tiffanys,
Brokeback Mountain and Anna Karenina. The event, which is in celebration of
ASCAPs 100th year, will take place on Sept. 28 on the final night of the film
festival.

Howard Shore to Receive Maestro Award This November, Howard Shore
will be presented with the Maestro Award at the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter
Film and TV Music Conference. Shore will also participate in a Q&A session at the
conference, which will take place at Universal Studios in Hollywood. The
conference will also include case studies, one-on-one sessions with reps, and panels
on the industry aspects of film music.


Rocker Brent Kutzle Crosses Over Brent Kutzle, the bass
guitarist and cellist for the band One Republic, is branching into composition,
scoring the documentary Behind the Water, which will premiere in 2015. The film,
directed by National Geographics Doug Clevenger and hosted by Fraser Kershaw,
tells the story of a community in El Salvador and the struggle to provide clean water
for its people. Kutzle will be delivering a string-based score.
