Context/ Background
Szcsny is a small town in the Northern part of Hungary. The town
is situated in Ngrd county which is one of the poorest region of
the country. Here the unemployment is high, and the youth has very
limited opportunities to stay and work here. Hence, young people
from the region tend to move abroad or to bigger cities in Hungary to
start a new life.
Szcsny is a historical town. In the center, you can find historical sites
such as a castle, a fire, tower and a bastion. In the town, you can
find necessary institutions such as banks, schools, health center and
pharmacy. As well as there are restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, a
library, a community center. The youngsters have no active social life
in the town, they have very limited opportunities to spend their time
with their friends or to go out.
Since in the nearby villages there are no schools or only up until 4th
grade, most of the children come to Szcsny on a daily basis to
school. In the town there are three schools which provide classes from
1st grade until graduation, and beyond. Several artistic group works
in the town. There are theater groups, a hip hop group and folklore
groups as well.

What to expect in Szcsny:

traditions and cultural events

the town

6000 inhabitants, moderated social life, basic institutions (bank, health
center, supermarkets, coffee bars, high schools, community centers,
