The Brokkrs

Baryon was a lowly engineers assistant when their

mountain stronghold came under heavy attack by the
legions of Basilea. The attackers were repelled and
Baryon was sent out into the battlefield by his master to
search for any precious metals left amongst the dead and
the dying. While Baryon did indeed return with a sack
full of gems and gold, he did not tell his master what else
he had discovered.
Amongst the men he found slain upon the battlefield, he
discovered the corpse of an angel. Though riddled with
bullets and crossbow bolts (and with part of it missing
entirely due to a lucky cannonball shot), the Elohis
armour was still a work of exquisite art. Baryon took the
armour, leaving the corpse to rot, and hid it near the
stronghold.
Whenever his master fell into an alcohol induced
slumber, Baryon would sneak out to examine the armour
and gaze in wonder at its beauty. Through steady testing
he determined that the metal was far tougher than the
best steel his brethren could produce, and malleable only
by the light of the moon.
He soon adjusted the armour to suit his much shorter
stature and set out from the stronghold in search of more.
After many months of searching for more armies of
Basilea, in hope of looting the corpse of another Elohi, he
managed to observe a great battle in the distance. He saw
the heavens open and Elohi swooping down upon their
foes. From this he believed that the Elohi must extract
their precious metals from a great mine in the sky.
Since then, Baryon has been obsessed with reaching the
mythical Great Mine in the sky. To this end he has
created numerous flying machines but none have allowed
him to reach the heights that he desires. They are,
however, extremely useful on the battlefield and their
designs respectfully replicated by dwarf engineers all
over the world.
Baryons current machine incorporates two huge cloth
wings, complete with Elohi feathers bolted to the frame.
His uncanny (to dwarf eyes at least) resemblance to Elohi
has earnt him the name The Blessed.
Most brokkr machines are simple contraptions of cloth
over a wooden frame that a dwarf can pilot on air
currents while others including great rotating wings
powered by steam (and some powered by a very tired
and out of breath dwarf). Piloting one takes less skill at
flying, and more skill at falling in a controlled manner.
On the battlefield they are highly effective at harassing
enemy units and are highly sought after by Dwarf
generals everywhere.

Elohi Hunter
Baryon hunts Elohi, seeking more of their precious
metals, with incredible ferocity. He has the Elite and
Vicious Special Rules when attacking units of Elohi or Ur-
Elohi with melee or ranged attacks.

Bombs of Brus
Initial attempts at using Baryons flying machines on the
battlefield proved to be disastrous. The engineers flying
the machines (since no other dwarf trusted them enough)
would not leave home without a rifle. These unfortunately
proved to be impossible to aim while flying and even
harder to reload.
Enter Brus, another engineers apprentice, who devised a
set of small, rounded explosives with a short fuse.
Normally too volatile and short ranged to be used by
regular infantry, they proved to be most effective when
wielded by Brokkrs. The Brokkrs could swoop over the
enemy, drop the bombs and fly away before they exploded.
Bombs of Brus are a throwing weapon (12 range) with
Blast(D6) and Piercing(1).
Dragon Belcher
Another weapon favoured by airborne Dwarfs is the
formidable Dragon Belcher. This device is a much smaller
version of the flame belcher generally used on the
battlefield. While it was often small enough to be carried
by one or two Dwarfs (a bastardised version is used by
the Abyssal Dwarfs), the relatively small flame was not
well received by the wielders.
Again this proved to be a formidable weapon when
mounted on a Brokkr air frame. The short burst of flame
was far more effective when its wielder could simply fly
away from the inevitable, smouldering, counter-attack.
The Dragon Belcher gives the model or unit a Breath
Attack (n) with Piercing (1), where n is the number of
attacks that the model or unit has.
