SUBJECT: Updates and suggested new phasing of the UP Situation/Agenda


Warm greetings of solidarity!

First, the Office wishes to extend its utmost gratitude to all student councils who have
already submitted the names of their respective nominees for the UP Situation and UP
Agenda crafting teams. Your cooperation is much valued. We likewise remind those who
are yet to submit the names of their nominees to comply at the soonest time possible, as
unanimously agreed by the 38
th
General Assembly of Student Councils or GASC.

After initial discussions with the representatives during the meetings in UP Los Baos, UP
Manila, and UP Cebu, here is the proposed timeline of activities for both crafting teams:

Please take note of the aforesaid schedule.

Also, we are pleased to announce that the UP Agenda and List of General Demands (UP
ALGD) was carried by the UP Kilos Na an alliance of different student formations in UP
Diliman, on its general assembly held last 9 September 2014. However, in view of the
recent events and policies that have been passed and implemented in the University, the
Office has seen the need to fast-track its proposed crafting. We propose that we create an
initial draft of the UP ALGD following the format of the UPLB ALGDs presented during our
meetings. The said draft shall be cumulatively supplemented in order to maximize our time,
upheld by the upcoming summits within different units, for the approval of the upcoming
GASC.

Lastly, as agreed upon by the members, the UP Agenda/Situation Committees shall have
committee heads. We are thereby opening the nominations for the said positions. Any
student council member may be nominated, however, it is preferred that the nominees are
present members of their respective committees.

Please submit the names of your nominees including his/her qualifications for the said
positions through email no later than 25 September 2014, 12 midnight. All student
councils are entitled to nominate one for each committee. The heads shall be selected
through an online poll that will run from 28 to 30 September. Should there be no nominees,
the Office reserves the right to appoint a committee head it sees fit for the position, upon
consultation with the applicant and his or her student council.
