each student. Creates a supportive, fun, and warm environment for all students.

Determines Goals - Determines goals for the group and/or individuals. Determine student profile, student learning style,
motivation, and transferable information.

isolating key skill development and milestones of proposed skill acquisition. Uses appropriate terrain/snow conditions and proper
pacing (practice time, breaks, discussion) for optimum success.

Presenting Information – Previews lesson plan for today and how it relates to the future (afternoon and tomorrow). Is clear and
concise, simple and direct with accuracy, brevity, and enthusiasm. Validates activities to tie in with goals. Adapts teaching style to
student learning style. Utilizes a variety of teaching/learning tactics for success.

Demonstrating – Demonstrates from different perspectives (front, back, side). Movement patterns and mechanics appropriately
model ideal for skill level. Demonstrates frequently, isolating skills and blending skills. Demonstrates accurately.

Practice – Task oriented practice designed for varying degrees of success. Design practice periods effectively (guided practice
with independent, observed practice.) Provide real time, accurate feedback.

Checking for Understanding – Physical behavior, accurate student response, verbal clues to understanding, utilize a variety of
response solicitations.

Teaching for Transfer – Draws on students’ previous learning experiences especially successes, to facilitate present learning and
reinforces positive transfer, recognizes negative transfer and corrects it.

Summarizing Lesson – Solicits review of what was accomplished today from a student, reinforces successes and salutes change.
Review understanding of next lessons content and continuing goals, terrain aspirations, and availability. Advice on upgrade use or
a private lesson.

Safety & Professionalism – Personal appearance, approach, and creation of lesson dynamics. Establishment of learning
partnership with students; class management: always heard, seen, listening, available and aware. Chair lift procedures, terrain
choices, and safety topics related in Responsibility Code. Instructor models safe conduct and etiquette.
