MSc in PROCESS PLANT MANAGEMENT

Introduction | Current globalisation trend demands future managers the


ability to challenge change by shaping a definitive shift toward the devel-
opment of high growth and sustainable process industry Thus, the
Integrated Process Plant Management Scheme (IPPMS), a modular-based
training programme, affords qualified professionals from the chemical and
related industries an opportunity to gain the degree of afore-mentioned
competency and working knowledge requisite to effect the transfer, adap-
tation and integration of new technologies intrinsic to process plant
management,future-ready to further spur the surge of national
advancement within a global framework
Programme Format (FULL-TIME)
The full time mode will only commence with minimum
enrolment of 10 students
Minimum duration of 3 semesters
Modules are similar to weekend PART-TIME programme
Programme Format (PART-TIME)
Modular part time consisting of 12 modules (in the field of
Process and Plant Technology, Business and Management)
and an in-company project.
Each module comprises of lectures and case studies to be
completed within 4 days or 2 weekends
After each module, assignments, tests or short projects will
be given to participants to be submitted within 4 weeks
A minimum of 3/4 weeks break between each module
Lectures will be conducted by academics, policymakers
and industry practitioners or professionals who provide the
know-how through their hands-on industrial experience
UTM will award MSc. in PROCESS PLANT MANAGEMENT to
candidate who satisfy the examiners in all 12 modules and
satisfactorily complete the in-company project.
LECTURE NOTES AND MEALS WILL BE PROVIDED.

Programme Outcomes
At the end of this programmme, the candidates will
be able to :
Entry Qualification
BEng./ BSc. in Chemical Engineering /Chemical
Technology / Industrial Chemistry with good Cumula-
tive Grade Point Average or equivalent
BEng./BSc. in other Engineering disciplines or BSc. in
Science disciplines with good Cumulative Grade Point
Average or equivalent and with minimum of 2 years
working experience in the process industry
Candidates with the above qualifications but having
other results can still apply if they have adequate
number of years of working experience in the process
industry.
Engender the competencies key to the success-
ful management of complex plant operations
through introduction to benchmark technologies
Generate an in-depth knowledge and under-
standing of the technical, financial and organ-
isational factors critical to process plant man-
agement
Energise visionary, value-driven individuals able
to sustain impetus for innovation by anticipating
and capitalising upon the potential of new and
emerging technologies
Reinforce regard and respect for environmental
and safety concepts

GOOD NEWS FOR MALAYSIAN POSTGRADUATE
STUDENTS. In Budget 08 announced by the Right
Honorable Prime Minister, tax paying postgraduate
students can expect RM5,000 tax relief from
postgraduate fees.
