Product Benefit and Uses
South African market leader. The Ultimate General Purpose Contact Adhesive. Environmentally Friendly and User Friendly due to its unique solvent blend which complies with Government Legislation and Exposure Limits set for n-Hexane in South Africa and Internationally. Perfect for bonding the following materials in any combination: rubber, leather, metal, most plastics, cork, laminates, textiles, floor coverings, wood painted surfaces and many more. Genkem Contact Adhesive is a medium viscosity contact adhesive which is easily brushable. It can also be applied by paint roller when installing materials of coarse texture or rigid by nature. Genkem Contact Adhesive can be used for PVC extrusions and moulded PVC tiles, needlepunch claddings and carpeting to walls and other vertical surfaces. Also for the installation of decorative laminates for floor and wall cladding.
Surface Preparation
Ensure that surfaces to be cladded are dry, even, flat, firm and free from greases and oils, loose particles and other contaminants. Painted surfaces must be tested for compatibility with the adhesive before attempting to do the installation.
Application
Stir well before use.
PVC Extrusions to well-prepared surfaces:
Apply by means of a good quality, clean paintbrush to both surfaces. Allow the adhesive to flash- off ( 45 minutes) before joining surfaces. Apply hand pressure before rolling down with a metal hand roller.
Moulded PVC tiles to well prepared surfaces:
Apply with a good quality; clean lambs-wool paint roller an even, thin coat, to both surfaces. Allow to flash-off ( 45 minutes) before installing. Roll well on completion using a three sectional steel floor roller for horizontal installations. For vertical, use a steel hand-roller.
Decorative Laminates to well prepared surfaces:
Apply by means of a good quality, clean lambs-wool paint roller, an even, thin coat to both surfaces. Allow to flash-off ( 45 minutes) before installing. Roll well on completion using a three sectional steel floor roller for horizontal installations. For vertical, use a steel hand-roller or rubber mallet.
Needlepunch cladding and carpeting to well prepared surfaces:
Apply by means of a good quality, clean lambs-wool paint roller to the surfaces to be cladded and to the back of the cladding material. Material of a coarse textured backing may require two coats of adhesive. Allow the first coat to dry well before applying the second. Let the adhesive flash-off ( 45 minutes) before installing. Roll well on completion using a three sectional steel floor roller for horizontal installations. Use a steel hand roller for vertical installations.

Diliberate misuse or inhalation of vapours of products containing solvents without adequate ventilation, may cause eye watering, weakness, fatigue, nausea, headache or dizzyness
This material is essentially hazardous (contains solvents) Always keep product out of reach of children and pets. Flammable. This product should be stored in a cool, dry place 8C - 25C away from heat, flames and sparks. Keep container closed at all times - check for leaks. Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Do not smoke whilst applying this product.Use caution when opening. Due to variations in temperature, the contents of the container may be under pressure. Close container after each use. FIRST AID MEASURES EYE CONTACT Take care to avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact, immediately rinse the eyes with plenty of water (15 minutes) and seek medical attention. SKIN CONTACT If accidental contact with skin should occur, wash the area immediately with warm soapy water or with a recognised skin cleaner. INGESTION Harmful if swallowed. Drink 3 - 5 glasses of water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately or call the Poison Information Centre on 0800202655 (Toll Free South Africa only). Other countries please contact your local Poison Information Centre INHALATION Do not inhale solvent fumes. Always work in a well ventilated area CAUTION Brushes and rollers soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, clean brushes and rollers or place in sealed containers filled with water. TRANSPORTATION This product is classified as Dangerous Goods by Dangerous Goods Code for transport by road or rail. Care must be taken to secure product during transportation to avoid spillages ACCIDENTAL SPILLAGES Prevent run off into drains and waterways. Use absorbent soil or sand, inert material. Collect in container for disposal. Disposal recommendation: Do not pour left over product down drains. Unwanted product should be disposed of by a Waste Company. Advise product is of a flammable nature. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Specific Hazards - Flammable liquid - extinguish with foam, dry agent (carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder).
