Mission: To explore the experience of leading development organizations with regard to (1) differing models for partner

engagement, (2) return on investment and cost analysis, and (3) methods for effective implementation for E2E
Brian Calcutt is a senior civil engineer from Fairfield, CT, concentrating in structural engineering.
He is particularly interested in the confluence of engineering and international development, an idea
he has explored through his involvement in NDSEED Notre Dame Students Empo!ering Through
Engineering Development" as !ell as Engineering#Empo!er. $rian%s experience also includes a
summer teaching in &ganda through the Center for Social Concern%s 'nternational Summer Service
(earning )rogram and a semester studying a*road in )erth, +ustralia. He spent the summer of
#,-. !or/ing for 0E Transportation !here he implemented principles of (E+N manufacturing, a
*ody of /no!ledge that can *e applied to address development challenges.
Cristin Pacifico is a senior Finance and )eace Studies dou*le1ma2or from Sarasota, F(. During
her time at Notre Dame, Cristin has sought to maximi3e her impact *y using *usiness to create
social good. Cristin%s experience on1campus includes co1founding a non1profit, the 4u*ilee 'nitiative
for Financial 'nclusion 4'FF'", !hose mission is to alleviate poverty *y providing small emergency
loans and financial empo!erment services to lo!1income individuals in the South $end community.
She also initiated and leads an impact investing clu* and the 0lo*al $usiness $rigades chapter at
Notre Dame. Her !or/ experience includes a *ac/ground in 'nvestment $an/ing, Commercial
$an/ing and )rivate 5ealth 6anagement at 7o*ert 5. $aird, 4)6organ and $an/ of +merica
6errill (ynch. Cristin !or/ed !ith E#E to create a case study in #,-8 and loo/s for!ard to
partnering again !ith this organi3ation.
Andrew Pemberton is a senior !ith a dou*le ma2or in Finance and )olitical Science and a minor
in 'nternational $usiness. He is originally from (a0rangeville, N9 *ut has spent a significant portion
of his childhood a*road, living !ith his family in )aris, France for four years and 6adrid, Spain for
t!o. These experiences continue to contri*ute to the international focus of +ndre!%s studies and
have helped shape his long1term career aspirations. 5hile at Notre Dame, +ndre! has !or/ed for
a non1governmental organi3ation in Callao, )eru as a high school teacher and *usiness consultant.
He also gained experience in sales : trading and corporate finance !hile !or/ing for the $an/ of
'reland at their head;uarters in Du*lin. +ndre! remains an active mem*er of the Notre Dame
community through his involvement !ith 0lo*e6ed and the Ta/e Ten program, !hich have spurned
his interest in development as it relates to glo*al health and youth empo!erment.
Amanda Pea is a senior from (os +ngeles, C+ !ith a self1designed ma2or in Sustaina*le
Development and minor in )overty Studies. Her passion for social 2ustice is *est demonstrated
through her advocacy for minority empo!erment and gender, identity and relational e;uality as a
F'7E Starter and president of the (atino Honor Society. +manda also !rites for The !"server to
introduce sensitive issues to the pu*lic forum and foster fruitful dialogue and introspection. She has
also participated in numerous development organi3ations *oth on1 and off1campus such as the
Foundation for Sustaina*le Development in $olivia, the <ffice for 'mmigrant Education and +ffairs
at the +rchdiocese of Chicago and at Notre Dame%s =ellogg 'nstitute and Center for Social
Concerns. To unify her academic and extracurricular interests, she is currently !riting a senior
thesis on the methods *y !hich development entities can empo!er slum communities to
participate in their o!n sustaina*le development. She hopes to dra! upon her experiences and research to offer insight into some of
the engagement methods E#E may utili3e in future pro2ects for empo!erment and colla*oration.
