Nearly a year since the devastating Rana Plaza building collapse, our RMG sector remains

under the global radar screen of concerned quarters. The EU, North American retailers'
alliance and the ILO, among others, have visited our RMG sector to see things at first hand.
They underscored the need for radically improving workers' safety standards, workplace
environment and their rights situation. Whilst noting a certain uplift in the deficient areas,
they laid stress on more to be done in specific areas.

Land brokers are opposing the DAP. They are purchasing land from poor at low prices and
selling to rich people. Some peoples representatives, who are related to this business, are
associated with it. There is one more thing related to it , that is electoral politics and
apparent popularity. Implementation of development planning is always difficult task.
Personal interest can be spoiled to assure collective interest. As a result, in case of
implementing DAP the initiative that was needed to take public with it or appropriate
campaign on behalf of it from the side of the government , had not been taken. But the
future of Dhaka city and its citizen cannot be allowed to be destroyed to the interest of Land
businessmen.

It is noticed that, RAJUK did not take lessons from mistakes. Rather they have evolved their
mistake by dividing Dhaka into two portion and they are working for implmenting DAP in
two and half times larger than before for each portion. And by the name of these DAPs,
undoubtedly, the country as well as its citizens are going to waste 33 crores taka. As a result
it creates anxiety that more millions of Dollar investment are going to astray.

Leakage of question papers has assumed an endemic scale in our country involving even the
primary terminal examinations. This is highly disconcerting. And given the repetitive nature
of the incident, the onus for the failure to stop the leaks must fall not only on the respective
education boards but also on all those associated with setting, selecting, printing and, finally,
dispatching the same to the exam centers. And one of the reasons why such incidents have
been occurring frequently is the failure to take stringent actions against the culprits
