Estimation of Reinforcement Steel

Preparation of Reinforcement Bar Bending Schedules for RCC work at construction sites is the most tedious
and time-consuming task. The shape of each and every bar is to be derived exactly for cutting from working
drawings. With increasing cost of steel, it has become necessary to minimize the wastage.

BarBeQue software takes care of both these aspects, for preparation of Bar Bending Schedules and Quantity
Estimation of Reinforcement steel. BarBeQue software is not Excel or any spreadsheet based, neither it runs
under any CAD package. It is complete standalone software, which generates to-the-scale graphical sketch of
each bar. Program eliminates time-consuming work of calculating the cut length of bars. BBS sheets
generated can be directly printed through this package.

Dimensions of each bar required e.g. A, B, C etc. are to be entered in a tabular form as shown below.
Deduction in the bar length due to bending, can be considered with different ways, as per IS or BS codes or
as per practices followed at sites. Cut Length of bar is calculated by program after applying this deduction.
Diameters wise break up of Reinforcement Steel Quantities is printed in the summary.



Almost all possible bar shapes are available in the bar library, with their formulas for calculating deductions in
the bar lengths. Dimensions of the bars are to be entered in user-friendly dialog boxes.




BarBeQue software is not Excel or any spreadsheet based, neither it runs through any CAD package. It is simple
to operate and there is no need of thorough knowledge of a CAD package. However BBS sheets generated are in
DXF format, compatible with all-popular CAD packages.

BarBeQue Standard Edition software comes with a module for generating Optimized Bar Cutting Arrangements
for purchased lengths of bars, to minimize the wastage of Steel. Once the cut lengths for all the bar are calculated,
program sorts these lengths in the decreasing order for each Diameter. It then applies optimization routines to place
these cut lengths in the purchased Bar Lengths (say 12 Mt), such that the wastage is minimum.

BarBeQue Professional Edition software comes with an Add On Formulator module, for generating Bar Lengths
with very few inputs for standard objects like various types of Beams, Columns, Staircases, and Foundations etc.
