Prohibit ranking in hiring public school teachers solon

A lawmaker has filed a measure that prohibits ranking in the hiring of public school teachers.

emplo)ment opportunities among teacher applicants.
According to Ong, ranking under the Department of Education (DepEd" Order shall appl) onl)
when there are no (ualified applicants for the *acant positions in public schools and other learning
centers, and when there are no (ualified bona fide residents of the baranga), municipalit), cit) or
pro*ince where the school is located.
Ong said the guidelines issued b) the DepEd in hiring teachers re(uire more criteria, which make
it more difficult for teacher+applicants to be hired.

proper legislation, and that a mere department order cannot effecti*el) amend a law like Republic Act
23&4,1 Ong said.

Recruitment of teacher+applicants b) DepEd includes e*er)thing from appl)ing, e*aluating,
ranking and ultimatel) hiring the successful teacher+applicants.
0he basic re(uirements for applicant usuall) are the application letter, .i*il !er*ice :orm 232,
Rating obtained from 0he Licensure E7amination for 0eachers (LE0", photo cop) of college or
uni*ersit) transcript or records, ser*ice record if an), .ertificate of speciali9ed training, if an).
0hese documents shall then be submitted to the school head of the public school where the
applicant intends to teach. An applicant should then prepare for an inter*iew, create a good
demonstration plan, and take an English proficienc) e7am. After going through all the process, the
applicant then shall wait for the release of the rank list of teacher ; applicants.
0he selection committee e*aluates applicants based on the following criteria< Education= 0eaching
