Personal Statement

I am currently studying Graphic Design, at The Manchester Metropolitan University. I have experience in various
different industries, all relating to Customer Service. I most recently work part time alongside my studies as a Sales
Advisor at FootAsylum, and previous to that at retail store Schuh. Prior to working within Retail, I specialized in Catering
and Bar Work. Firstly working with Rouge Recruitment, working various different functions, including Premiership
Football stadiums, Huge Social events such as The Grand Prixx at Silverstone. I also worked smaller functions such as
weddings, conferences, and after working with Rouge for a year I was trusted to work independently manage the
smaller functions. I also spent some time working as a Customer Service Advisor for The Home Retail Group. In this role I
was trained to take Inbound and make outbound calls, inputting customer data and dealing with customer complaints
and enquiries. As I am currently studying Graphic Design we are required to work with live clients, to specified and none
negotiable deadlines, to present work to clients and to make adjustments to fit the clients needs, this has taught me
excellent time management skills and given me the ability to take constructive criticism and use it to enhance my work.

Work Experience
Foot Asylum - September 2013 - January 2014
Working as a Sales Assistant at FootAsylum, was very similar to working at Schuh as they were both shoe sales positions,
although FootAsylum was a larger store, with a larger variety of products. I had a lot more independent responsibilities
within FootAsylum. The company noticed I had a flare for Visual Merchandising and gave me a lot more creative
freedom when organising stock.

Schuh - June 2013 - September 2013
As working as part of the Schuh team has been my first position in the retail industry, I have had to learn new skills I
wasnt used to, although I have a lot of experience in Customer Service this was still very new to me.
I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the position and I am very confident in it. I am very keen to progress in the industry
alongside my studies.


Home Retail Group Call Centre - September 2011 - February 2012 - Customer Advisor
Working in the Argos and Homebase call centre was something completely different to what I have previously done. I
was trained to take Inbound and make Outbound calls to customers awaiting delivery of the items they had ordered,
and as I was hired as a temp over the Christmas period it was an extremely busy time to be working in that area of the
company.

Rouge Recruitment - March 2010 - April 2011 - Temp
Working with Rouge Recruitment has definitely given me a large variety of skills which can be put to use in other areas
of employment. The functions we worked were scattered across the country and all required different styles and
standards of customer service, I was first employed as waiting on staff until I turned 18, then I was much more focused
on working on the bars of the events and was contracted to work every match day at the Aston Villa Football Stadium,
serving the customer who had paid huge amounts to hire boxes.

handling, Unfortunately I had to leave work there as the shifts I was contracted clashed with those of my full time
college course.

Throughout my temporary contract working as a Team Member at the McDonalds Establishment, I was trained to

Hobbies and Interests
I have been studying Photography for 4 years now so I devote a lot of my time to enhancing my skills in this area and
gaining further experience. This includes, finding and travelling to various locations to hold shoots, finding local models,
and editing the images using various different programs e.g. Adobe Photoshop CS4/CS5. Alongside this I have a keen
interest in graphics, and am looking to enrol in a graphics course in September, I have been spending the majority of my
time working on my portfolio, I have also been asked by various people to do some paid work for them to design logos
for bands/posters/t-shirts etc. I am also very much looking to learn to play the piano in near future, and do some
adventurous sport; snowboarding/caving for example. Other than this I enjoy spending my time socialising and meeting
new people, and next year I am hoping to work in America over the summer with Camp America.
