The post holder will be a Research Associate on a EU INTERREG IVA funded project Honeycomb Creative Works. The project, led by University of Ulster with partners Dundalk Institute of Technology and Creative Skillset, aims to stimulate the growth of the digital content sector in Northern Ireland (outside greater Belfast), west of Scotland and six Irish border counties.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. To carry out relevant literature searches where appropriate.
2. To manage and ensure that deadlines and quality measures are met for the various studies and outputs identified in the plan for the Honeycomb project and report regularly to the projects research co-ordinator.
3. To undertake research and analogous activities at an international level in the field of digital creative industries and collaboration with other sectors, with particular reference to Northern Ireland, the six border counties and west of Scotland.
4. To co-ordinate the activities of researchers at the Centre for Media Research, University of Ulster, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Scottish partners and Creative Skillset in benchmarking the industry within the eligible region.
5. To collaborate with relevant partners like Screen Northern Ireland, Irish Leaders in Technology Group (California), Creative Scotland, Enterprise Ireland, industry bodies in the eligible area like Digital Circle, the director of the Northern Ireland Media Academy, HE institutions, governmental enterprise agencies, regulatory and other policy institutions in the development of the projects activities.
6. To assist in the securing of external funding for the research activities to ensure its sustainability.
7. To identify and undertake benchmarking visits to centres of excellence in digital media that are relevant to the eligible area.
8. To assist in the promotion of the Honeycomb project as well as the organisation of appropriate events.
9. To maintain all necessary records and carry out administrative tasks in relation to research as required and liaise with the projects web team in the development and maintenance of the projects databases.
10. To make public the output from these activities to partner institutions, industry and to relevant governmental stakeholders.
11. Data entry and data analysis using both qualitative and quantitative techniques.
12. To carry out other duties as may from time to time be required by your line manager related to the successful completion of the project.
The post may involve travel to University campuses and to the location of the project partners.
