This mode has similar controls to the simulation mode &ith one e4ce3tion5 *, and Q,
<ee3 the cylinder velocity 3lot o3en
Usin" the Q,/*, tools or the scrollbar under them. you can trace the velocities for each time ste3)
Q, &ill move the crank and 3iston one ste3 in the 3ositive time direction) imilarly. *, &ill move
the system in the ne"ative direction by , ste3) This &ill allo& you to find estimated values of
velocity on the 3lot at different crank an"les)
(. C(. ,N(. and 'H( de"rees are easy to visuali7e. but A( de"rees may be difficult to see) It &ill
be easier to calculate the time at &hich these an"les occur) The an"le is e$ual to >time?2>an"ular
velocity?) Therefore. the time to "et to C( de"rees in idle is >C(de"?/>E'((de"/s? 9 ()(',E
seconds)
ince there are ,(( ste3s. each ste3 &ill move the simulation by >0nd Time?/,(() @or idle the
end time is ()' seconds and for red*line the end time is ()(' seconds) In addition. ste3 , is for
time 9 ( and ste3 ,(, is for time 9 >0nd Time?) !ereOs an e$uation to kno& &hat time coincides
&ith &hat ste35 t 9 >tste3*,?2>0nd Time?/,(( or tste3 9 t2,((/>0nd Time?Q,
The numbers you obtain for a time ste3 numbers &ill 3robably not be &hole numbers) ;ou can
obtain a "ood estimate of the velocity by assumin" that the 3ath bet&een each ste3 is linear)
Therefore if you obtain a time ste3 number of ,H)E from the e$uation above. you can estimate the
velocity by com3arin" it to the velocities at ,H >v,H? and at ,N >v,N?5
This method is called linear inter3olation)
