SECTION I
General Information

1. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra State invites proposal for
introduction of new courses and/or variation in the approved intake capacity of following
Diploma Institutions in the academic year 2010 – 2011.
a) Diploma in Engineering.
b) Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology.

2. Applicant [Societies / Trust / Universities / Government / Govt. aided] may obtain


APPLICATION FORM from D.T.E. website: www.dte.org.in and submit the said duly filled in
application form to concerned Jt. Director Technical Education, Regional Office alongwith form
fee Rs. 5000/- and Registration fee as prescribed. (Original) No application form fee for
closure of Institute is required.

3. Government Institutions are exempted from paying Rs. 5000/- towards cost of Application Form
and prescribed Registration Fee.

4. All Trust / Societies / University / Government can submit proposals under following condition:
i) No Institutions, which is running in temporary, rented / hired premises, shall be
considered for additional courses (s) and/or variation in intake.
ii) The institution, which is eligible for applying N.B.A. accreditation and have not applied
for / not accreditated will not be considered for any Variation in Intake.
iii) The institution, which performance is not satisfactory as per key performance indicators,
decided by Government will not be considered for Variation in Intake.
iv) Applicant should fulfil all the requirements as per norms & standards of All India Council
for Technical Education including infrastructure for existing courses approved by All India
Council for Technical Education and should have availability of built-up area and
infrastructure at permanent site for proposed introduction of new courses and / or variation in
the approved intake capacity.
The AICTE norms are as below:
• Land for Mega City-1.5 Acres, Metro City-2.5 Acres, Other-5 Acres.
• Built-up area required is 9 Sq.M. per student (Including all)
• Teacher Student Ratio is 1:20.
• Ratio between Senior Lecturer and Lecturer should be 1:3.
• Computer Student Ratio is 1:4.
• Books requirement in Library : 2 reference books per student, 6 text books per student &
Journals As per the requirement of the curriculum of affiliating body
• For existing institutions: Rs. 50 Lakhs (Operational Fund)
v) Director of Technical Education will not consider approval of courses other than those
listed at Annexure-A for Diploma Engineering & Technology.

5. A Copy of the proposal is required to be submitted as per schedule published by Director of


Technical Education to the following offices:
a. Director, Technical Education, 3, Mahapalika Marg, Mumbai (Copy of the
proposal)
b. Concerned Joint Director, Technical Education, Regional Office. (Original)
c. Concerned Dy. Secretary, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education,
Regional Office.
d. Regional Officer, Western Region Committee, Industrial Assurance Building, 2nd
floor, Churchgate, Mumbai-400020.

6. No application will be accepted without prescribed form fee and registration fee.

SECTION II

Instructions For Submissions Of Proposal

1. a) Proposal for each Institutions should be submitted on separate prescribed Application


Form.
b) The completed proposal on the prescribed Application Form (in original) should be
submitted to the Concern Jt. Director, Technical Education, Regional office before the
last date.
i) Application Form from the Government / Government Aided Institutions should
be submitted through Principal / Chairman of Governing Body of concerned
institution.
ii) Application should be submitted only through Regional Office.
iii) Registered Society or Trust should submit their application through the Secretary
of their Society / Trust.

2. Application should include all pertinent documents supporting the information provided
and claims made therein.

3. The application through certified documents should indicate specially the additional
requirements / infrastructure created/ proposed to be created for introduction of new
courses and / or variation in the approved intake capacity of courses.

4. Each application must contain an Index page, which should give page numbers of all the
enclosures.

5. Please do not skip any item or section in the application form. If any item is not
applicable, record “Not Applicable” otherwise applications shall be treated as
incomplete.

6. The proposal should be submitted in the following sequence.


I. Acknowledgement Form
II. Submittal Form
III. Application Form
IV. Xerox copies of receipt from concerned agencies as listed in the submittal form
V. List of enclosures

7. In the event, the information and statements given by the applicant in the prescribed form
are found incorrect / the application is liable to be rejected. Any future correspondence /
information on such proposals shall not be entertained.

8. Director of Technical Education may not consider proposals for additional courses /
variation in intake capacity unless institution is established and functioning in its
permanent approved location as per Norms & standards of the A.I.C.T.E.
