Research Title: Spencer Technique and Maitland Technique in Adhesive Capsulitis: A
Comparative Study

Overview and purpose of the study:

You are invited to participate in a research study which aims to compare the
effectiveness of Spencer Technique and Maitland Technique in Adhesive capsulitis in
decreasing shoulder pain, increasing shoulder range of motion and function.

Kayo po ay malugod naming iniimbitahang makilahok sa ginagawang pagsasaliksik sa
pagkukumpara ng epektibo ng Spencer Technique at Maitland technique sa aspeto ng tindi ng
sakit, galaw at paggamit ng balikat gayundin sa haba, aplikasyon at kakomportablihan sa
pasyente na tinamaan ng adhesive capsulitis.

Basis for Participants Selection:

You have been selected because you have met the following inclusion criteria:

With adhesive capsulitis, either primary or secondary
Stage 2 and 3 of Primary Adhesive capsulitis
At least Grade 3 muscle grade
Ages 40-60
Both gender

Kayo po ay napili sa kadahilanang nasa inyo po ang katangiang tumutugma sa
aming basehan sa paglahok sa pananaliksik na ito;pagkakaroon ng Adhesive Capsulitis
maging Primary o secondary, may grade 3 sa lakas ng kalamnan, ang pagiging 40- 60
taong gulang, babae o lalaki at nasa stage 2 at 3 ng Primary Adhesive capsulitis.


Research protocol

All participants will undergo screening for shoulder pain, ROM and function. The first
assessment will be performed on the day of the first treatment session and another assessment
test after 4
th
week of treatment. Respective treatments will be initiated, with group A receiving
Maitland Technique and group B receiving Spencer Technique.

Lahat ng kabilang sa pagsasaliksik ay susukatin ang sakit na nararamdaman sa balikat,
galaw ng balikat at gamit nito bago magsimula ang gamutan. Ang isang grupo ay
makaktanggap ng Maitland technique at ang isa pang grupo ay makakatanggap ng Spencer
technique. Pagkatapos ng apat na linggong gamutan, susukatin muli ang nasabing panukat.

Potential benefits

You will be improving your shoulder range of motion as well as decrease the pain of your
affected shoulder thus improves your function in your daily tasks.

Ang galaw ng inyong balikat ay lalaki at mababawasan ang sakit na dahilan upang ang
inyong paggawa ay gumanda at madagdagan.


Assurance of Confidentiality

The researchers assure that all information gathered regarding the respondents will be
secured and protected and only those who are involved in this study will have the access in all
the information of the study. The results and outcomes of the study will only be presented to the
research committee. Data gathered are owned by the Lyceum of the Philippines University-
Batangas and only respondents and principal researchers have access to it.

Sinisigurado ng mga mananaliksik na lahat ng mga impormasyon na makukuha mula sa
kalahok ay magiging ligtas at nakatago. Ang mga taong may kinalaman sa pag-aaral na ito ay
pagmamay-ari ng Lyceum of the Philippines University- Batangas.
