its contributions for the uplift of the standards of English language

create professional awareness amongst teachers of English at all levels
and *eep them abreast of the new developments in the 0eld of EL(/ !ts
activities include monthly academic sessions1 teacher training and
development courses1 publication of 2uarterly 3ournal1 and international
annual conferences on vital themes in E4L/
'PEL( 5onferences are a regular feature of 'PEL(/ (hey cater to the EL(
world across the country/ 'essions are based on various aspects of the
5onference theme1 as well as generic EL( topics that are of interest to
the EL( practitioners who are always on a loo* out for hands6on language

A) Pa(er7 50 minutes which includes 15 minute question/answer time.
!t should discuss what the presenter is doing or has done in
relation to either theory or practice/ Bandouts and audio6visuals
aids may be used to illustrate the presenterCs ideas/
B) ?!r@-h!(A 50 minutes or 1 hr 30 minutes
(he wor*shop leader should use very little lecturing/ (he
wor*shop should emphasiDe on involving the participantCs in
activities +in group or pairs,1 which help participants solve
problems or develop speci0c teaching techni2ue/ A step6by6step
procedure of the wor*shop along with a short description of
activities should be outlined/

A demonstration is used for showing rather than telling about a
techni2ue for teaching or testing with only a brief +not more than ;
minutes, reference to the underlying theory/ Bandout and audio6
visual aids may be used for exposition of the activities/

A collo2uium provides both short and formal presentations and
participantsC discussions/ !t is an opportunity for group
presentations in which issues1 ideas and techni2ues can be
discussed and shared/
