Parul Arogya Seva Mandal, established as
registered Trust in 1990 by Dr. J. K. Patel, a man
of great vision and acumen, strives to ensure the
rights to education, health and employment to
the most underprivileged strata of society, He
established a huge campus spread over 100
acres. It is a verdant Gurukul offering a variety of
courses.

The success story of the Ahemedabad
Homoeopathic Medical College motivated the
trustees to start other professional programs like
Engineering, Management, Computer
Applications, Architecture, Social Work,
Pharmacy, Ayurved, Physiotherapy, Education,
Hotel Management etc. In all, nineteen Institutes
have been established during a very short span of
thirteen years. The most interesting feature is that
all of these Institutes are approved by the councils
concerned. The Trust is, also, pioneer in starting
the first self-financed Ayurvedic Institute in the
Gujrat State during 2006-07.

PARUL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Parul Institute of Technology (PIT) was
established in 2009. The institute offers various
degree engineering courses in Automobile, Civil,
Computer, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics &
Communication, and Mechanical branches. It is
affiliated to Gujarat Technological University,
Ahmedabad and approved by AICTE. PIT comes
under the aegis of Parul Arogya Seva Mandal.
The college provides state-of-the-art
infrastructure, with highly equipped laboratories,
library, eminent faculties and sincere staff
members.

CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

The Civil Engineering Department offers Under
Graduate Program in Civil Engineering. The
department is bestowed with highly qualified and
dedicated faculties with rich experience, well
equipped laboratories and skilled & committed
supporting staff. Conducting seminars, workshops
and conferences on the latest developments in
various Civil Engineering fields is the regular
practice of the department. During the last three
years the Department has conducted two Short
Term Training Program, seven National
Conferences / Seminars and supported the
Gujarat Technological University in conducting a
national conference.

WHAT IS GIS?

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system
intended to capture, store, manipulate, analyze,
manage, and present all types of geographical
data. In the simplest terms, GIS is the merging of
cartography, statistical analysis, and database
technology.

A GIS can be thought of as a systemit digitally
creates and manipulates spatial areas that may
be for jurisdictional purpose or application-
oriented. Generally, a GIS is custom-designed for
an organization. There are various commercial
and open source GIS softwares are available like
Autodesk, ArcGIS, Erdas Imagine, GRASS
Intergraph, Quantum GIS etc. Quantum GIS is an
open source software with all essential features
and compatibility to all operating systems. Anyone
can download and start using QGIS for numerous
applications in Civil Engineering field.

APPLICATION OF GIS

GIS is a relatively broad term, which can refer to a
number of technologies and processes, so it is
attached to many operations; in engineering,
planning, management, transport/logistics and
analysis.

The training can be useful and utilized in various
