Basic Concepts on Integrating Technology in Instruction
Integrating technology with teachings means the use of learning technologies to introduce,
reinforce, supplement and extend skills
Teachers need no to become computer experts because they are not to teach computer
skills to their students. rather, they should bear in mind that the manifestations of
technology integration in instruction are the following:
There is a change in the way classes are traditionally being conducted.
The quality of instruction is improved to a higher level in such a way that could not
have been achieved without educational technology.
There is planning by the teacher on the process of determining how and when
technology gets into the teaching-learning process.
The teacher sets instructional strategies to address specific instructional
issues/problems.
The use of technology provides opening of opportunities to respond to these
instructional issues/problems.
In such, technology occupies a position (in a simple or complex way) in the
instructional process.

So for teachers to be guided there is a need for her to take note the different levels of
technology integration which also provide him/her a criteria for evaluating his/her
technology application. The said levels are the following:
Level 1 (Simple integration)
-technology integration has no substantial change in the teaching-learning
process fromthe previous method. While technology helps, it does not play a pivotal
role. Ex. The useof LCD Projectors in presenting concepts and, examples through
images/pictures.

Level 2 (Middle level integration)
-there is a purposeful use of technology to support key learning areas. Ex. The use of
instructional simulation software in which students play detectives to solve mysteries
related to Geography in their Geography subject.
Level 3 (High level integration)
-technology Is the central instructional tool. Ex. Students were tasked to produce
computer newsletter to dish out information on the ASEAN Region.
Create a grid to differentiate technology-integrated instruction from traditional instruction
process.
